Patent number: 5574657Abstract: An electronic rate meter controller is provided for controlling the dispensing of meterable material by an applicator apparatus, typically in the agricultural area. The rate meter controller retrofits a manually-controllable rate meter within the applicator apparatus that controls the rate of material flow through the applicator by adjustment to a primary control member of the rate meter, such as a rotary calibration dial. The rate meter controller allows for automatic electronic control and adjustment to the rate meter by the primary control member, based on user inputs and certain sensor inputs. Typical sensor inputs include speed of the applicator apparatus as it is being moved while dispensing the metered material, and ambient air temperature which affects the applicator system pressure for certain materials such as anhydrous ammonia. The rate meter controller also allows for manual electronic remote control of the rate meter, such as from a cab of a vehicle moving the applicator apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1994Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Assignee: Micro-Trak Systems, Inc.Inventors: S. Patent number: 5475614Abstract: A fluid delivery control system is provided for controlling a fluid delivery system to deliver a fluid under pressure at a target flow rate. In a hybrid mode, the preferred fluid delivery control system is responsive to signals from a pressure sensor and a flowmeter. Primary feedback control is provided using the sensed pressure from the pressure sensor, and the sensed flow rate from the flowmeter is utilized to provide compensation for the pressure responsive feedback control and to provide accurate measurements of flow rate and total flow for the fluid delivery system. The preferred fluid delivery control system is also capable of operating in flowmeter and pressure modes which are only responsive to signals from a flowmeter and a pressure sensor, respectively. In the preferred embodiment, the fluid delivery control system is utilized in a mobile sprayer system for applying an agent over a surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1994Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Micro-Trak Systems, Inc.Inventors: S. Patent number: 5350992Abstract: Power from a DC power source, such as a 12 volt RV or boat battery, is boosted and converted to provide an AC signal suitable for operating an induction motor such as a refrigerator compressor motor. The converter provides voltage pulses having a substantially constant width. The converted voltage signal frequency is initiated at a low frequency and ramps up to 60 Hz. A start winding control circuit is provided for activating the start winding for a limited initial period. A thermostat for controlling the activation of the compressor motor is connected in series with the motor load such that shutting off the compressor disconnects the motor from the circuit. Control circuitry monitors under voltage, over voltage, overcurrent, AC switching, and adequate delay before restart and controls the circuitry accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1991Date of Patent: September 27, 1994Assignee: Micro-Trak Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey B. Patent number: 5323721Abstract: A planter monitor system monitors, measures and displays a plurality of planter performance parameters. The system includes a display console, a plurality of row unit modules and a plurality of seed sensors. The system can be used with a wide variety of planters made by different manufacturers and on many different planter types. The system can accurately monitor a wide variety of seed types (e.g. both small and large) and a wide variety of seed planting rates (low and high) and any combination thereof which can occur within the wide scope of seed planting. The system calculates an error rate from a set of data, in graph form, representing experimentally determined actual seed rates versus seed rates as would be measured, thus allowing the operator to optimize seed population and distribution by adjusting the speed of the planter apparatus and/or the seed distribution system.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1992Date of Patent: June 28, 1994Assignee: Micro-Trak Systems, Inc.Inventors: Semor D. Patent number: 5260875Abstract: A controller system having a half-duplex serial line as a bus for transferring commands, status and data between all controllers in a planting and spraying system. A bus master connected to the serial line synchronizes each controller to the network while a base console coordinates the operation of each planting and spraying system. Separate system controllers operate in conjunction with each system accessory module to control the components of each planting and spraying system. Operation of a spray control module is controlled by the sprayer control console, operating in conjunction with a base console. A planter monitor module provides control over a plurality of components in a seed-planting system. A base console with a primary user interface and a planter controller console with a planter user interface are connected to the planter monitor module over a communications medium.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1991Date of Patent: November 9, 1993Assignee: Micro-Trak System, Inc.Inventors: David S. Patent number: 4998058Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating two corresponding points on opposite sides of a wall, floor, or other structural component. A transmitter transmits a electromagnetic signal indicative of a first point located on one side of the component, a signal receiver on the other side of the component generates an electrical signal proportionate to the strength of the electromagnetic signal, and a display outputs a maximum reading when the signal receiver indicates a maximum electromagnetic signal. The sensitivity of the display may be adjusted. The transmitter, receiver, and display may be structurally integrated when not in use. The transmitter is attached to the first side of the structural component at the first point, the receiver is moved along a second side of the structural component, and the receiver is moved along the second side to a location indicated by a maximum display.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1989Date of Patent: March 5, 1991Assignee: Micro-Trak Systems, Inc.Inventors: Semor D. Patent number: 4942765Abstract: An ultrasonic ground speed sensor has a single transducer which both transmits and receives ultrasonic signals. The sensor is mounted on a vehicle in alignment with the direction of the vehicle, the transducer having a built-in angle with the body of the sensor unit. The transmitted signal is clocked by a 16 MHz clock, with the signal received by the transducer selectively filtered and amplified. A temperature sensor is also used to determine the speed of the transmitted and received signal. A 64-cycle sample period is used, as well as multiple counters and a signal processor to increase accuracy and minimize erroneous readings. A drop-out detector and monitoring system sensor is also described. The vehicle speed is calculated from a Doppler-based formula as a function of both the sum and difference of the transmitted and received signal frequencies. Also disclosed is a gasket seal having leak holes for drainage from the interior of the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1988Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Assignee: Micro-Trak Systems, Inc.Inventors: Thomas K. Hiniker, Semor D. Tofte
