Abstract: A cylindrical housing has a plurality of seriate slots. A helical cutter is rotatably mounted within the housing. A drive wire passes through the housing and connects with the cutter to provide rotational movement to the cutter. Plaque is caught between the slots and the blades of the rotating cutter, cut away from the arterial wall, ground up and flushed out through a catheter.
