  • Publication number: 20060190013
Abstract: An elongated jaw assembly for pinching closed a medical clip in an elongated medical clip-applying device. The assembly has an elongated bifurcated set of jaw members on a set of jaw arms. The assembly has a first end and a second end with a curvilinear rail arranged on an edge of each of the arms. A movable cinch member is slidably disposed on the jaw assembly to effect both closure and spreading apart of said jaw members on a tissue pinching medical clip supported therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20050273122
Abstract: A surgical clip includes a connecting member having a two ends and a pair of legs. Each leg extends from one end of the connecting member. A generally diamond-shaped pattern is formed on a portion of the inner surface of at least one of the connecting member and the pair of legs. The generally diamond-shaped pattern is formed as the result of generally perpendicular diagonal grooves.

  • Patent number: 6840945
Abstract: A medical clip dispenser apparatus for the pinching of a medical clip or staple about a portion of a mammalian body tissue. The apparatus comprises an elongated support beam having a distal end with a stationary lower housing thereon, and a distally movable hollow cinch slidably disposed on the lower housing. The cinch has a portion of a pair of closable jaws squeezably arranged therewithin. An elongated pusher has a generally cross-shaped pusher member on a distal end thereof in slidable engagement with the jaws, to keep the jaws apart from one another after a new clip has been pushed into position between the jaws.

  • Patent number: 6595984
Abstract: A laparoscopic assembly includes a body, an elongated shaft, and optionally, a removable or non-removable surgical tip. The body includes a casing manually manipulating tip actuating means, a tip actuating rod, a collet, a collet closer, and one or more collet detent members. The shaft is operably and removably gripped by the body and extends from the body to interconnect the body with a surgical tip. The collet closer is shaped and sized to, on tightening of the collet closet, radially compress the collet to grip the sheath. Each collet detent member is disposed in one collet radial bore, and is shaped and sized to permit only partial entry into the collet axial bored to engage the sheath depression during assembly, and be freely movable radially within the collet radial bore in response to urging inwardly by the tightening of the collet closer, or outwardly by the sheath depression wall when the collet closer is loosened.

  • Patent number: 6569171
Abstract: An elongated medical clip applying device having a hand holdable housing at a proximal end thereof and a barrel clip-dispenser at a distal end thereof is arranged for dispensing squeezable clips onto a mammalian tissue. The device includes a hollow inner sleeve arranged within the housing. The sleeve has a proximal end for receiving a clip feeder cartridge therein. A proximal bearing is slidably disposed about a proximal circumference of the inner sleeve. A trigger lever is attached to the housing, the trigger lever having a linkage bar thereon connected to a finger for moving the proximal bearing proximally and distally. A lock mechanism is arranged in the sleeve to deny a clip feeder cartridge entry into the sleeve when the proximal bearing is adjacent the lock mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6306149
Abstract: The present invention relates to a clip feeder arrangement for supportive receipt in a handle of a medical clip stapling gun, for the advancement of a plurality of clips seriatim by a trigger mechanism in the handle to a location between a pair of pincher jaws. A distalmost clip of the plurality of clips is advanced to the jaws prior to advancement of the remaining plurality of clips. The feeder arrangement comprises a U-shaped cartridge having a proximal end and a distal end, the cartridge containing the plurality of clips, a frame for supporting the cartridge and an elongated, cyclically movable feeder bar or pusher mechanism arranged beneath and enagable with the cartridge, for first advancing the distalmost clip in the cartridge to a location between the jaws and then subsequently advancing the remaining plurality of clips distally by a ladder pushed thereadjacent, both of the advancement motions occurring in a single distal advance of the feeder bar mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5810879
Abstract: A laparoscopic instrument assembly for use with a removable tip. The shaft between the removable tip and the external, body or handle portion of the instrument includes a rod moving axially within a sheath to transmit the manipulation of the handle portion to actuate the tip. Both the sheath and the rod are removable from the handle for cleaning of the instrument. Thus, after use, the shaft may be readily disassembled from the handle, the shaft and handle portion sterilized, and the shaft and handle readily reassembled for reuse of the instrument. Alternatively, a non-removable tip may be provided as part of a shaft-tip unit.
