Patent number: 7431724Abstract: A medical clip dispenser apparatus for the pinching of a medical clip or staple about a portion of a mammalian body tissue. The apparatus comprises an elongated support beam having a distal end with a stationary lower housing thereon, and a distally movable hollow cinch slidably disposed on the lower housing. The cinch has a portion of a pair of closable jaws squeezably arranged therewithin. An elongated pusher has a generally cross-shaped pusher member on a distal end thereof in slidable engagement with the jaws, to keep the jaws apart from one another after a new clip has been pushed into position between the jaws.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: October 7, 2008Assignee: Microline Pentax Inc.Inventors: Emmanuel Manetakis, Henri de Guillebon

Patent number: 7419495Abstract: A trigger lockout device for a clip applying instrument. The lockout device includes a displaceable slider actuable by squeezing a trigger slidable in first and second directions a longitudinal axial direction within the barrel, and a block disposed within the barrel. When a first number of clips have not been applied and when the trigger is squeezed, the slider slidably engages and displaces the block and slides along a path in the axial direction to retrieve a clip of the first number of clips, and to insert the clip into the pair of jaws, and when a second number or none of the clips have not been applied, the slider engages the block to substantially prevent the slider from sliding along the path in at least one of the first or second directions such that the triggery cannot be unsqueezed.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2005Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: Microline Pentax Inc.Inventors: Pavel Menn, Emmanuel Manetakis, Peter Aliski

Patent number: 7182775Abstract: The present invention comprises a grasper arrangement having a pair of opposed, elongated, movable jaw members at a distal end of the grasper arrangement pinchably actuatable from a handle portion at a proximal end of the grasper arrangement. The jaw members each have a toothed insert attachably secured thereon. Each tooth insert has an array of teeth disposed thereon on a first side thereof. Each tooth insert has a securement arrangement on a second side thereof to securely engage the jaw member thereto. Each of the jaw members are of decreasing tapered thickness from a distal end thereof to a proximal end thereof.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2003Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: Microline Pentax, Inc.Inventors: Henri de Guillebon, Genci Omari

Patent number: 7179265Abstract: A clip applying device for the insertion and pinching of a medical clip within a mammalian body portion. The device comprises a housing supporting a proximal end of a delivery tube of the device. A pair of pinchable jaws are movably arranged at a distal end of the delivery tube. The device contains a plurality of preformed clips of a first width, the clips having leg portions, the clips also being movably disposed within the delivery tube between the housing and the jaws. A tool adjacent the jaws is arranged to enlarge the clips from a first width to a wider second width, as the clips emerge from the delivery tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2003Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: Microline PENTAX, Inc.Inventors: Emmanuel Manetakis, Henri F. DeGuillebon, Ly Ung

Patent number: 7141056Abstract: An elongated medical clip applying device having a handle grip assembly on a proximal end thereof and an elongated channel with a pair of squeezable jaws on a distal end thereof. A push rod arrangement is included having a distal end and a proximal end. The push rod arrangement is utilized for advancing a plurality of clips in a sequential manner between the jaws. The push rod includes a multiplier extender arrangement to increase the distance of travel of the distal end of the push rod arrangement a multiple of the distance of travel of the proximal or input end of the push rod arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2002Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Microline Pentax Inc.Inventor: Emmanuel Manetakis

Patent number: 6911033Abstract: A medical clip applying device for crimping a clip onto a mammalian tissue. The clip applying device comprises a handle grip assembly having a handle and a pivotable trigger arranged onto the handle grip assembly. An elongated cartridge support channel is arranged onto a distal end of the handle grip assembly and extending through the handle grip assembly. A pair of jaws is pivotably arranged on a distal end of the elongated channel. A displacable cinch is arranged to slide onto and back from the pair of jaws to squeeze the jaws closed and to permit the jaws to bias open, respectively. A loading port is arranged on a proximal end of the handle grip assembly to permit the clip applying device to be loaded with a clip laden cartridge from the proximal end thereof.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2002Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Microline Pentax Inc.Inventors: Henri de Guillebon, Emmanuel Manetakis
