  • Publication number: 20080134904
Abstract: A method and device for determining a variation with time of an amount of steam released from a food product during a cooking process in a cooking chamber of a baking oven. A heat sink is provided outside the cooking chamber or a vapor duct in fluid communication with the cooking chamber. A sensing head of a heat conducting body projects into the cooking chamber or vapor duct, and the heat conducting body is operable to transfer heat to the heat sink. The sensing head is protected from precipitation of condensate on its surface by its spatial positioning and/or the mode of operation of the baking oven. A variation with time of the temperatures of the sensing head and cooking chamber are measured with first and second temperature sensors, respectively. The variation with time of the amount of steam in the cooking chamber is determined using an evaluation circuit of a controller as a function of measurement signals generated by the first and second temperature sensors.

  • Publication number: 20080123325
Abstract: A lighting device for a household appliance with a treatment chamber. The lighting device includes a light channel disposed in a wall or door of the treatment chamber. A light source cooperating with the light channel is disposed outside of the treatment chamber and provides light beams along a first direction. First and second reflectors are disposed in the light channel to reflect respective portions of the light beams toward the treatment chamber so as to enter the treatment chamber through a transparent area in the wall or door. The second reflector extends further in a second direction, which is transverse to the first direction, than the first reflector, such that the second portion of the light beams reaches the second reflector in an unhindered manner. The first and second reflectors have reflective surfaces thereon which are configured differently in the second direction and a third direction transverse to the first direction in order to prevent mutual shadowing.

  • Publication number: 20080120066
Abstract: A method of detecting an error in a measurement cycle. The method includes wirelessly transmitting a sequence of electrical signals sweeping through a predetermined frequency band from a transmitter to the receiver of an electric evaluation circuit of household appliance controller. The levels of the signals are measured, and a parameter is calculated from the signal levels in the evaluation circuit. The parameter is compared to an upper and lower limit, and the quality of the measurement cycle is determined as a function of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 7358464
Abstract: A method for temperature measurement in a household appliance includes generating a high-frequency electromagnetic excitation wave of a predefined transmit frequency. The transmit frequency is selected from a frequency band including temperature-dependent resonant frequencies that occur in a surface wave device incorporated in a temperature measuring probe and which respectively correspond to temperatures expected at the temperature measuring probe during operation of the household appliance. During a first phase, the excitation wave is wirelessly transmitting to the surface wave device. During a second phase following the first phase, an electromagnetic response wave generated by the excitation wave in the surface wave device is wirelessly transmitting to a processing unit.

  • Publication number: 20080066732
Abstract: A baking oven and method for controlling the exhaust flow from a cooking chamber of the baking oven. The exhaust flow is discharged from the oven by a fan. The method includes increasing the speed of the fan and measuring the gas concentration of the cooking chamber during a first time interval. The gas concentration is measured using a gas sensor. At the beginning of the first time interval, an initial gas concentration is measured. During the first time interval a fan speed is selected at which the measured gas concentration varies from the initial gas concentration. The speed of the fan is set for a second time interval as a function of the selected fan speed from the first time interval.

  • Publication number: 20080066661
Abstract: A baking oven and a method for controlling the exhaust flow from a cooking chamber of the baking oven, the flow being discharged by a fan. The method includes increasing a speed of the fan during a first time interval after. A first temperature of the baking oven is measured using a first temperature sensor during the first time interval. At the same time a second temperature of the baking oven is measured using a second temperature sensor. An electronic controller is used to determine the temperature difference between the temperatures during the first time interval. At a selected fan speed, the determined temperature difference varies from an initial temperature difference measured at the beginning of the first time interval. The controller sets at least one of the fan speed and a position of a bypass damper as a function of the selected fan speed.

  • Patent number: 7344393
Abstract: An electric plug includes a plug housing, at least two incorporated plug-in contacts that are to be inserted into corresponding jacks of an outlet, and a cable feeder. A manually actuated ejection mechanism encompassing a push-out device is disposed in the plug housing. The push-out device cooperates with a spring in such a way that the spring is biased in the plugged-in state of the plug in order to allow the plug to be automatically removed from the outlet by means of the push-out device when the ejection mechanism is actuated. In order to actuate the ejection mechanism, the same is automatically triggered by pulling on the cable, the tensile force being effective on a strain relief device for the cable, which is located in the plug housing and cooperates with triggering device for actuating the spring-biased push-out device.

  • Publication number: 20080053990
Abstract: A method for detecting a fire condition in a cooking chamber of a baking oven. The method includes measuring the oxygen concentration in the baking oven and also using an evaluation circuit of an electronic controller to determine the rate of change of the oxygen. The oxygen concentration and the rate of change are compared to predetermined values stored in a memory of the electronic controller. If the oxygen concentration reaches a value smaller than a limit in the range of 15 to 20 percent by volume, and the rate of change of the oxygen concentration exceeds a rate of decrease of about 2.5 percent by volume per 10 seconds, the fire condition is detected. Subsequently an alarm is created and/or at least one of the heat output or air circulation through the oven is reduced.
