Patent number: 8915308Abstract: Automatic height control of a dozer blade, the input from the slow absolute height sensor is combined with an input from a gyroscope that measures the instant rotation and recalculates it into a vertical height change using the length of the supporting arms. The combination obtains the accuracy of the absolute height information and an increased speed of measurement resulting in a compensated height estimate that is input to a hydraulic control system of the feedback type. This enables much more aggressive control even though the hydraulic system has an unknown linearity and delay associated with it. The gyroscopic sensor forms an IMU with one degree of freedom to compensate for drawbacks of the absolute height sensor with regard to delay, noise and update rate to obtain a frequent, time-correct height position with a reduced level of noise by means of a calculation based on both types of sensor output.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 2011Date of Patent: December 23, 2014Assignee: Mikrofyn A/SInventors: Claus Joergensen, Lars Kjaergaard

Patent number: 8843266Abstract: The complex movements performed by the various components carrying a bucket that performs earth moving work are monitored by means of ultrasound devices relating lengths and angles obtained during a calibration step and instant measurements in a processing unit in order to output either a visual indication of the position of the bucket or signals for automatic control of a digging or other earth-moving operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2011Date of Patent: September 23, 2014Assignee: Mikrofyn A/SInventor: Anders Lindskov

Patent number: 8654608Abstract: In the use of a backhoe digger an indication of the precise depth of the bucket is required. This may be done by measuring the angles and extensions of the elements of the backhoe and calculating the result. This is commonly done by means of angle resolvers and linear encoders. Retro-fitting and calibration of such equipment is very difficult, and according to the invention the same data may be obtained by means of an inclinometer and length measuring devices based on pulsed ultrasound.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2011Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Mikrofyn A/SInventor: Anders Lindskov

Publication number: 20120323455Abstract: Earth moving equipment and other heavy machinery for environmentally harsh conditions are controlled by a control panel supplied with a lock, and such panels are frequently removable to prevent theft or unauthorized operation. The interface is in the form of a plug-and-socket, the parts of which have to be sealed against dust and humidity when not interfacing. In order to prevent wear and to assure reliable control, according to the invention, no part of the connection between the control panel and a receptable is galvanic, the power supply for the control panel is wireless, such as inductive or optical, while communications may occur by means of a two-way radio protocol or by optical means.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2012Publication date: December 20, 2012Applicant: MIKROFYN A/SInventor: Anders Lindskov
