Abstract: In FIG. 5, a rotor (22.sup.1) has a sealing face (24.sup.1) provided with a plurality of grooves (33.sup.1) in which a sealing fluid can be held by counter-balanced centrifugal and pressure differential forces as the rotor (22.sup.1) rotates to form a seal across the sealing face (24.sup.1). In alternative embodiments the grooves (33) can be of constant width and/or not radially disposed. In a specific use, the sealing arrangement seals a vacuum in a milk concentrator.
