Abstract: The present invention discloses a composition and the use of the same in fire control applications. The fire control applications include fire extinguishing and flame proofing of liquids, semisolids and solids. The composition comprises an organic phosphorous containing compound, an oil and a detergent. The organic phosphorous containing compound is a compound of formula (I), or a complex, solvate or hydrate thereof, wherein M is selected from the group consisting of H, NH4, Na and K, and R is C1-6 alkyl or a substituent according to formula (II).
