Abstract: A stirrup for use in equestrian and other riding with traditional looking features has a pivotable footplate for ease of mounting and dismounting as well as for proper heels down, toes up positioning of the rider's foot while riding. A support bar extending between the side bars of the stirrup is included for adding strength and stability to the stirrup as well as to facilitate the pivoting action of the footplate. Side bar grooves also are included on the ends of the footplate which have bearing surfaces to provide a positive stop for the side bars such that the footplate is limited in rotation to a predetermined angle in relation to the side bars.

Abstract: Horse riding reins to facilitate the manipulation of a horse by a rider. The reins can be employed in training a rider or a horse, or simply to facilitate the maneuvering of a horse by a rider. The reins provide readily perceptible and identifiable indicia at corresponding locations from the bit so that a rider is able to properly position his hands on the reins to manipulate the horse in the desired manner. The readily perceptible and identifiable indicia can be utilized by an instructor to immediately and clearly instruct a trainee as to the proper positioning of the trainee's hands to control the horse in the desired fashion, or by the trainer to distinguish various tensions on the reins when getting a particular response from a horse. A rider can thus readily appreciate the proper hand positioning and corresponding feel to control the horse in such desired fashion.

These yarns are knit together in such a manner that one side of the knit fabric exposes only one of the yarns while the other side of the knit fabric exposes the knit combination of both yarns. The knit fabric is easily and comfortably manipulated while possessing improved mechanical properties such as strength, durability, and stretch and recovery.

Abstract: A knitted fabric for recreational clothing which has a first yarn on both the first side and the second side of the fabric and a second yarn on only the first side of the fabric, the yarns having been knit by a repeat knitting process on a double-knitting machine where the second yarn is knit only on the dial needles and the first yarn is knit on both the dial needles and the cylinder needles so as to provide the knitted fabric with a high degree of strength and recovery. The second yarn is comfortable against one's skin while facilitating with the first yarn the provision of the desirable strength and recovery characteristics.

Abstract: A saddle pad for use in connection with riding saddles is disclosed, including a base portion, a pair of side panels depending from the base portion, each of the side panels including an outer layer and an inner layer, and slot means in said outer layer so that the panel portion of a riding saddle may be inserted into the slot means and between the outer layer of the side panel and the inner layer of the side panel to stabilize the saddle pad during use.
