Abstract: In the method of the invention to obtain lipids with a high proportion of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs) with 20 to 22 carbon atoms by extraction from a raw material of animal or vegetable origin, unicellular algae (microalgae), macroalgae from the families of the brown, red and green algae and/or residues of alginate or carrageenin production with a water content of .ltoreq.50 weight % and a particle size of .ltoreq.50 mm are used. For extraction, an organic solvent or a compressed gas is used. A lipid extract with a high proportion of w6 LCP and w3 LCP and in particular with a content of at least 5 weight % of arachidonic acid and/or a content of at least 3 weight % of docosahexanoic acid is also prepared.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for preparing a phenylalanine-free dietetic product comprising L-amino acids, and optionally comprising carbohydrates, minerals, trace elements and/or vitamins, for persons afflicted with phenylketonuria particularly adults, juveniles and pregnant women. The process comprises preparing a wet batch by dispersing in water the L-amino acids, some or all of the optional components, and at least one fatty material as an emulsifier, after which the wet batch is spray-dried. The spray-dried wet batch is then mixed with additional vitamins and/or carbohydrates and at least one fatty material as a separation agent to produce a mass. The mass thus produced is processed into cores for dragees or tablets, and the dragee or tablet cores are provided with coatings or dragee covers. The dietetic product is used as a nutrition supplement.

Abstract: The present invention relates a process for the production of liquid and powdered bifidogenic infant and dietetic foods that are reduced in their antigenicity. The process, according to the invention, is characterized by the cleavage, but not removal, of sialic acid from milk protein and/or milk protein degradation products, via acid hydrolysis, in order to achieve a bifidogenic product. Thus, it is possible to produce bifidogenic infant foods, particularly suitable for infants, premature and undersized babies, and those parties who cannot tolerate usual milk products. In addition, the process can be used to produce dietetic food, particularly for persons suffering from intestinal allergies, other allergic diseases and failure of the liver and kidney.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of liquid and powdered bifidogenic infant and dietetic foods which are reduced in their antigenicity. The process according to the invention is characterized in that to achieve bifidogenicity, sialic acid is enzymatically cleaved from the milk proteins using the enzyme neuraminidase (sialidase).Consequently in accordance to the invention it is possible to produce bifidogenic infant foods, particularly suitable for infants, premature and small for date babies, which can additionally be used in cases of intolerances against usual milk products.Furthermore the process can be used for production of dietetic food, particularly for patients suffering from intestinal allergies, other allergic diseases and patients with insufficiency of liver and kidney.
