Patent number: 4639110Abstract: The application describes an automatic focusing system for photographic cameras. The system functions by means of an infrared light source and an infrared detector. The infrared radiation is focused as a function of object distance in such a manner on the detector that this detector is divided into two detector segments each of which supplies a partial current of which the ratio depends directly on the object distance. The detector is followed by an electronic computing circuit which sets the objective as a function of a preselection implemented by a switch to one of the following modes of operation:(a) the focus is on the object to be photographed(b) the depth of field is extended from the object toward the camera(c) the depth of field is extended from the object to the rear(d) the depth of field is extended from the object to infinity(e) the depth of field is extended to between two consecutively targeted objects.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1985Date of Patent: January 27, 1987Assignee: Minox GmbHInventors: Juergen Rinn, Fritz Belitz

Patent number: 4185901Abstract: A reading device for viewing microfilms, transparencies, fiches, and the like, comprising a plate-shaped projection screen made of transparent material supported on a frame structure with the projection screen disposed in a slanted position relative to the horizontal. The screen has on the viewing side a frosted surface and on the opposite side prism-shaped parts. A source of light is disposed into the frame structure beneath a carrier for placing an article to be projected thereon. A mirror assembly is disposed in the frame structure to reflect light rays passed from the light source through the article to the prism-shaped parts and through the projection screen. The prism-shaped parts are disposed in lengthwise rows and have prism surfaces extending at an angle with respect to the opposite side of the projection screen for deflecting the light rays reflected from the mirror assembly so as to project an image of the article within an angle converging toward a viewer situated above and in front of the screen.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1977Date of Patent: January 29, 1980Assignee: Minox GmbHInventor: Karl-Gunter Behr

Patent number: 4170408Abstract: A collapsible viewing device for viewing microfilm consists of a carrying case with a bottom part to which is hinged a lid. The case includes a viewing screen, a supply of light, a lever assembly and a spring assembly which, upon opening of the lid, automatically activates the light, moves the screen into its reading position and releasably locks the screen in its viewing position. Closing of the lid against the action of the spring assembly returns the screen into the position in the bottom part of the case against the action of the spring assembly and disconnects the light.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1978Date of Patent: October 9, 1979Assignee: Minox GmbHInventor: Karl-Gunther Behr

Patent number: 4057814Abstract: A sub-miniature camera has a rotatable winding knob which moves the film and cocks the shutter of the objective. A slide is movable by the knob between initial and end positions and blocks a release button from actuation when the slide is in its initial position and releases the button when the slide is in its end position. The slide is provided with a slot through which passes a rod of the release button and the slot and rod co-act to block and unblock the release button. The shutter is operated electrically by contact means closed by the slide moving to its initial position. The slide also actuates an exposure counter and the exposure counter is returnable to the zero counting position upon opening of the camera housing.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1976Date of Patent: November 8, 1977Assignee: Firma Minox GmbHInventors: Martin Grunbacher, Hans Werner Johannsen
