  • Patent number: 5793298
Abstract: This invention relates to an image forming apparatus provided with a punching unit and a paper refuse collecting box (container). The apparatus has a controller provided with a counter and monitor. The counter counts the total number of binder holes formed in paper by a punching operation by multiplying the number of sheets of paper to be punched by the punching unit with the number of binder holes formed in one sheet of paper that is designated by an operator. The monitor converts the total number of binder holes calculated by the counter into the amount of paper refuse accumulated in the container each time the punching operation is finished, while integrating the amount of paper refuse accumulated in the container. When it is judged that the integral value exceeds a predetermined maximum value, the controller causes a display device to display the necessity of emptying the container.

  • Patent number: 5790267
Abstract: A communications method is provided for performing a rational priority processing according to the urgency of an interrupt transmission when an interrupt transmission command is supplied while a multi-address communication or a multi-polling reception is performed. The priority order of the processings is decided based on whether the interrupt command requests a direct transmission or a memory transmission. When the interrupt is the direct transmission, the interrupt is given priority. When the interrupt is the memory transmission, the multi-address communication or the multi-polling reception is given priority. In the interrupt transmission requesting the memory transmission, after an original for the interrupt transmission is read out and stored in a memory, the multi-address communication or the multi-polling reception is continued, and after the communication is completed, the data of the original for the interrupt transmission stored in the memory is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 5790266
Abstract: In the present invention, a transmission control procedure from the time when a calling facsimile receives a digital identification signal from a called facsimile to the time when the calling facsimile transmits a facsimile message is carried out by control signals using tone signals. For example, the calling facsimile sends out to the called facsimile a first control signal indicating that facsimile transmission should be performed through a particular procedure if it receives the digital identification signal from the called facsimile. The called facsimile sends to the calling facsimile, if it receives the first control signal, a second control signal indicating that the first control signal is received. The calling facsimile sends out to the called facsimile a third control signal indicating that a facsimile message should be sent and then, sends out the facsimile message to the called facsimile if it receives the second control signal.

  • Patent number: 5783352
Abstract: Numerous projections are formed on the surface of toner particles by fine particles which are added to a monomer when preparing spherical toner particles by a suspension polymerization. Alternatively, spherical toner particles may be deformed when they are aggregated together with inorganic matter, and then the inorganic matter is chemically removed. The electrophotographic toner produced by deforming spherical toner particles has a narrow particle size distribution, reduced particle size, and excellent flowability. This improves the cleaning properties of the resultant toner, which can be scraped off the photoconductive drum using a cleaning blade.
