Abstract: A rotatable LCD screen device includes a substantially rectangular LCD screen unit which has a length and a width and which includes a front display side and a back side, and an upright support which is connected rotatably to the back side for rotation of the LCD screen unit about a horizontal axis substantially perpendicular to the plane of the front display side so as to place the LCD screen unit in a first position where the length lies horizontally, or a second position where the length extends vertically. A lock mechanism is provided on the back side and the support for locking the LCD screen unit against movement relative to the support when the LCD screen unit is in the first position or the second position. In addition, a limiting mechanism is provided for limiting the angle of rotation of the LCD screen unit relative to the support.
Abstract: The computer housing of a modular computer device includes a rectangular housing body-having a front panel formed with at least one module receiving opening, a side door mounted pivotally on the housing body and operable so as to close and open an open lateral side of the housing body, and a connector unit disposed in the housing body and having at least one electrical connecting set registered with a corresponding module receiving opening. A computer main board is mounted on an inner surface of the side door and is connected electrically to the connector unit. At least one computer peripheral module has a module housing that is disposed slidably and removably in a corresponding module receiving opening and that has a rear side provided with a module connector set. The module connector set engages mechanically and electrically an aligned corresponding electrical connecting set of the connector unit to establish electrical connection between the computer peripheral module and the computer main board.
Abstract: In a computer system which has a system memory, an integrated circuit socket that is normally used for mounting a BIOS memory thereon, an input/output port, and a central processing unit connected to the system memory, the integrated circuit socket and the input/output port, a method of debugging in the computer system includes mounting a debugging memory which is programmed with a debugging routine on the integrated circuit socket, connecting an external computer terminal to the input/output port, and activating the computer system such that the central processing unit executes the debugging routine and such that the central processing unit is capable of downloading and executing software instruction codes from the external computer terminal.
Abstract: The present invention includes a DC signal generating circuit for generating a DC signal and a ramp signal generating circuit for generating a periodic ramp signal. A synthesizing circuit is then used to combine the DC signal and the ramp signal to generate a synthesized signal, where the DC level of the synthesized signal is determined by the DC level of the DC signal. A driving circuit is used to amplify the power of the synthesized signal. A rotate coil surrounding the neck of a cathode-ray tube is responsive to the amplified synthesized signal, and therefore generates a magnetic force to turn electron beam in the cathode-ray tube, thereby compensating the trapezoidal distortion on the bottom and the top edges of a screen display.
Abstract: A heat dissipation apparatus for dissipating heat of a semiconductor chip module is disclosed. The heat dissipation apparatus includes a base, a plurality of fins, and a heat transfer pipe. The heat transfer pipe has a first opening and a second opening. The first opening is adjacent to the fins which are arranged over the base. The second opening is in a cooling ambient. The heat generated from the semiconductor chip module is conducted away by the base, the fins and then transferred into the cooling ambient through the heat transfer pipe.
Abstract: A portable computer includes a computer housing which has a top wall and a front wall, a pointing device which is mounted on the top wall and adjacent to the front wall, a concavity which is formed adjacent to the pointing device and which is open at the top and front walls, and a press button which is mounted resiliently in the concavity. The press button has a top press plate which is exposed from the top wall, and a front press plate which extends forwardly and downwardly of the top press plate and which is exposed from the front wall. The press button is operated when pressure is exerted on either the top press plate or the front press plate.
Abstract: The docking apparatus, which is used for a portable computer with a first connector unit, includes a housing, which has a front side, and a second connector unit which is mounted in the housing and which protrudes from the front side. A computer support extends forwardly from the front side and has a top wall which supports the portable computer so that the first connector unit engages the second connector unit. An elongated rod is mounted pivotally in the housing and is disposed parallel to the front side. A lever has a front part, a rear part and an intermediate part disposed between the front and rear parts. The lever is mounted in the computer support and is movable longitudinally between a normal rear position and a front position. A crank is fixed to the elongated rod and engages slidably the lever. A pushing unit is mounted on the elongated rod and protrudes through the front side in order to push the portable computer forward.
Abstract: A mother board assembly includes a mother board which has a top face and a first connector mounted on the top face. A first mounting seat is mounted on the top face on one side of the first connector and includes at least one resilient first positioning member which is substantially C-shaped. The first positioning member defines a first groove and has two spaced free ends. A second mounting seat is mounted on the top face on the other side of the first connector and includes at least one second positioning member which has a substantially U-shaped retaining portion that defines a second groove. A curved plate portion extends from the retaining portion in a direction away from the first mounting seat. An interface card has a front end, a rear end, a bottom face and a second connector mounted on the bottom face between the front and rear ends.
Abstract: An apparatus for positioning interface cards in a computer housing includes a seat member and a locking member. The seat member has a first mounting plate and a second mounting plate connected perpendicularly to one another. A plurality of positioning channels are formed on the first mounting plate. Each of the positioning channels has a closed end and an open end. A resilient plate is provided on the second mounting plate by forming two slits in the second mounting plate. A projection is formed on the outside face of the resilient plate. The locking member has a first plate and a second plate perpendicularly connected to one side of the first plate. A U-shaped member is connected to the other side of the first plate and is connected slidably to the resilient plate of the second mounting plate.
Abstract: A computer panel includes a panel member to be locked against the side of a computer casing from which the disk drives are accessed. The panel member has a window opening to access the disk drives. A cover is hinged to the panel member to close the window opening. A first lock is provided on the panel member to lock the panel member against the computer casing. A second lock is similarly provided on the panel member to lock the cover against the panel member. A key operable rotary actuator is mounted on the panel member and connected to the first and second locks to simultaneously actuate the first and second locks to unlock the cover from the panel member and the panel member from the computer casing when the rotary actuator is operated by a key.
