Patent number: 8452042Abstract: An improved shallow speaker is disclosed having a molded diaphragm with an outer, depending, annular cylindrical subcone that connects to a channel formed in the outer perimeter of the spider. Embodiments for round and cornered (polygonal, etc.) speakers are provided. The top plate has a raised outer annular portion for receiving an annular spider flange with or without screw holes for clamping the inner spider flange with a spider ring. In the cornered speaker embodiments, flanges extend from the cylindrical portions to the cornered portions including from a diaphragm inner glue flange over the depressed central portion and from the annular cylindrical subcone both outwardly and inwardly to top diaphragm portions. Routing of the tinsel may be through one or more openings in the annular cylindrical subcone and along the diaphragm inner surfaces, with channels in or on those surfaces for securely routing the tinsel.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2011Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Mitek CorporationInventors: Brad Michael Diedrich, Chad Aarron Kautz, Alan Robert Cross

Patent number: 6938726Abstract: A rebuildable low frequency loudspeaker driver has a replaceable diaphragm assembly. In a first embodiment, the peripheral edge of a loudspeaker driver diaphragm comprises a flexible surround and is releaseably supported within a matching basket having a peripheral mounting flange clamping surface to which a rigid ring-shaped clamping member or gasket is releaseably attached. A parts kit includes a replacement cone assembly with a frustoconical cone having an attached annular surround at the large cone end and a flexible spider attached near the small cone end, adjacent the attachment point for the cylindrical voice coil former. The spider includes a rigid ring mounted at the spider peripheral edge and dimensioned to be removably fastened to the driver basket. The driver basket includes a spider plateau region including a valley with sidewalls adapted to receive and center the spider rigid ring.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2002Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Assignee: Mitek CorporationInventors: Richard S. Patent number: 6753729Abstract: An improved Class D amplifier which does not utilize a clock, is self-oscillating, and reduces switching errors and distortions. The amplifier includes positive and negative switches which are selectively activated to reduce errors in gain in the analog signal produced by the amplifier.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 2000Date of Patent: June 22, 2004Assignee: Mitek CorporationInventor: Simon J. Patent number: 6567529Abstract: A low frequency loudspeaker driver has polygonal diaphragm surfaces. In a first embodiment, the peripheral edge of a loudspeaker driver diaphragm is polygonal, preferably hexagonal or six sided, wherein each of the six peripheral sides are of equal length and meet in radiused or rounded corners. The hexagonal loudspeaker driver is supported within a matching hexagonal section truncated pyramid shaped basket having a hexagonal peripheral mounting flange. The hexagonal woofer of a first embodiment is adapted to be mounted on a planar baffle in a variety of densely packed arrays such that virtually no wasted baffle space is visible between the driver basket peripheral edges. The faceted hexagonal diaphragm shape provides an increase in cone surface area of approximately ten percent as compared to conventional frustoconical woofers having circular peripheral edges.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2001Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: Mitek CorporationInventor: Richard S. Patent number: 5783970Abstract: An input driver stage for an audio power amplifier wherein the amplifier incorporates only N-channel VFETs in the output stage, the invention locks the currents in second stage (via a closed loop) which is directly connected to the VFET output stage thus allowing precise open loop predictive temperature compensated programming of the quiescent operating point of the VFET output stage into an acceptable linear area of operation--without fettering the amplifiers inherent straight forwardness of implementation or the amplifiers excellent signal amplification characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1996Date of Patent: July 21, 1998Assignee: Mitek CorporationInventor: Joseph J. Pleitz
