    Abstract: Methods are provided for enhancing metabolic performance at the mitochondrial level. The methods include administering an adenylosuccinate in amounts sufficient to treat, in diseased tissue, symptoms and pathologies resulting from dysfunctional metabolism, i.e. subnormal production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and to enhance normal mitochondrial respiration in healthy tissue.
