Abstract: An azo dye having the formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl, hexyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, acyloxyalkyl, acylalkyl, hydroxyalkylaminoalkyl, cyanoalkyl, aminoalkyl, N,N-dialkylaminoalkyl, alkylaminoalkyl, chloroalkyl, bromoalkyl, carboxyalkyl, morpholinoalkyl, cyclohexyl, phenethyl, benzyl, phenyl, chlorophenyl, methoxyphenyl, nitrophenyl, tolyl, xylyl, dialkylaminophenyl and alkyl containing an ammonium group wherein the ammonium nitrogen is quaternized by alkyl groups or by an amino group with alkyl groups, or wherein the ammonium nitrogen atom is the heterocyclic nitrogen atom of a morpholine ring or a pyridine ring, wherein R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 represent hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, nitro, cyano, carboxyl, methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, trifluoromethyl, .beta.

Abstract: N.sup.2 -naphthalenesulfonyl-L-arginine esters and amides having the formula ##STR1## or the acid addition salts thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable acid, wherein R is wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are members selected from the class consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkenyl and cycloalkyl, respectively containing not more than 10 carbon atoms, and aralykyl and cycloalkylalkyl, respectively containing not more than 15 carbon atoms; and R' is a member selected from the class consisting of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-l-naphthyl, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-naphthyl, 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl, 1-naphthyl substituted with halogen, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, alkyl containing not more than 10 carbon atoms, and 2-naphthyl substituted with halogen, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, alkyl containing ot more than 10 carbon atoms.
