    Abstract: A synthetic gene encoding an insecticidal protein, the gene is provided having a base sequence which has been modified to bring the codon usage in conformity with the genes of gramineous plants particularly rice plants. A method for producing recombinant gramineous plants is provided, which comprises transforming protoplasts derived from gramineous plants with the vector, incubating the protoplasts in a liquid medium in the presence of cultured cells of the plants to form colonies and regenerating plants from said colonies. Recombinant gramineous plants having resistance against insects are also provided.

    Abstract: A process for producing a copolymer of propylene and other .alpha.-olefins in the presence of a catalyst comprising a titanium-containing solid catalyst component and an organoaluminum compound is disclosed. The process comprises (1) a first step in which propylene is homopolymerized or propylene and a minor proportion of other .alpha.-olefin are copolymerized to prepare polymer particles having a pore volume of from 0.15 to 0.30 cm.sup.3 /g, and (2) a second step in which propylene and other .alpha.-olefin are copolymerized in the presence of said polymer particles. The resulting propylene copolymer particles have improved fluidity and high bulk density.

    Abstract: A method for producing an aldehyde, which comprises reacting an olefin with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a hydroformylation reaction zone in the presence of a rhodium catalyst having an organophosphorus compound as a ligand, wherein a reaction solution withdrawn from the hydroformylation reaction zone, which contains an unreacted olefin, an aldehyde product and the catalyst, is countercurrently contacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in a contact tower to separate and recover the unreacted olefin without substantially deactivating the rhodium catalyst and supplying the recovered unreacted olefin together with the carbon monoxide and the hydrogen to the hydroformylation reaction zone.

    Abstract: A spinning nozzle for dry spinning a spinning solution containing a metal compound and an organic polymer compound by a blowing method. The opposing inner surfaces each include a projecting portion, which are formed at the front side of a pair of cover plates 1,1, with each of the projecting portions having a knife edge portion at its free end. Spinning solution supplying nozzles are composed of a plurality of linear pipes and are arranged in the air nozzle 6 in such a manner that they are in parallel to the parallel surfaces of the cover plates and project from the edges of the parallel surfaces. Air fed through a gas feeding port 5 and blown out as an air stream from the air nozzle 6, and streams of the spinning solution extruded from the spinning solution supplying nozzles form parallel streams.
