    Abstract: A thermal transfer recording material comprising a combination of a donor sheet having a heat meltable ink layer on a support and an image receiving sheet which are superposed so that the heat meltable ink layer on the donor sheet contacts with the image receiving sheet, the thermal transfer being carried out by a thermal head, wherein either said donor sheet or said image receiving sheet or both sheets are characterized by being such that1. the heat meltable ink layer of the donor sheet principally comprises a colored dye or pigment, a binder and a wax which are coated on the support as an aqueous solution and/or an aqueous emulsion;2. the image receiving sheet has, coated thereon, a heat meltable substance having a melting point higher than that of said heat meltable ink layer.

    Abstract: Lithographic printing plates which have such a high sensitivity as permitting use of semiconductor laser beam of low output, a high resolving power and a high printing endurance and are free from occurrence of scumming are made by a method which comprises imagewise exposing a light sensitive material which comprises a support and at least a silver halide emulsion layer and a surface physical development nuclei layer provided on the support, said emulsion layer comprising silver halide grains which contain at least silver bromide and containing at least one sensitizing dye having a maximum spectral sensitivity in the region of longer than 700 .mu.m and then developing the exposed light sensitive material with a silver complex diffusion transfer developer containing at least a thiocyanate. Further improvement can be obtained by providing an antihalation means to keep the reflectance of a light of longer than 700 .mu.m at 13-40%.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a direct making of multicolor printing plates by the procedure of exposing a photosensitive material (P) of the lithographic type for making a black plate to an original bearing both the continuous tone image and the line images. The said procedure comprises (1) exposure to the continuous tone image which is performed by exposing the sensitive material (P) through a contact screen to the original in which the line images are covered with a mask (M-1) having an optical reflectance of 2% or less and the continuous tone image is covered with a mask (M-2) having a large optical reflectance, then again exposing, in the absence of contact screen, the sensitive material (P) to the original in which the line images are covered with said mask (M-1), and the mask (M-2) for the continuous tone image is removed, and (2) exposure to the line images which is performed by exposing the sensitive material (P) to the original in which the continuous tone image is covered with the mask (M-1).
