The optical filter for a plasma display is provided with a near infrared ray blocking layer made of polyester containing a near infrared ray absorbing agent and an image quality correcting layer made of polyester containing a compound which absorbs visible light having an absorption maximum wavelength in a range from 560 nm to 600 nm. These layers are layered through an integrated process by means of a co-extrusion method, according to which these layers are melted and extruded together from a co-extrusion process, and thus, a biaxially oriented film is formed.
