Patent number: 5310273Abstract: A joint structure for removably attaching a ball member to an end of a bar member to form a truss structure is disclosed having an engagement member attached to the ball member, which engagement member has an exterior portion extending outwardly of the outer surface of the ball member, and an attachment device associated with the end of the bar member which removably engages the exterior portion of the engagement member. The joint structure according to the present invention may be utilized with bar members with or without tension rods extending through the bar member. The ball structure may be a spherical shell made of metal or fiber reinforced plastic which is located within a hollow concrete sphere. The spherical shell is not removed from the interior of the concrete sphere, but, instead, is used to increase the tensile force resistance of the ball member. The spherical shell may be imbedded in the ball member at the time of forming the concrete ball and can be used as a molding core.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1992Date of Patent: May 10, 1994Assignees: Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki Kaisha, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Nakamura Kensetsu Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Yukio Hara

Patent number: 5264212Abstract: Impurities containing a pungent taste component are removed from a hot red pepper oleoresin as a starting material therefrom by a supercritical gas extraction method using a carbon dioxide as an extracting reagent, and the extraction residue is used as a red coloring matter. Even when the hot red pepper is used as the raw material, the invention can provide a natural red coloring matter evaluated as having "no pungent taste" by an organoleptic test. When the natural red coloring matter is prepared from the hot red pepper as the raw material by the supercritical gas extraction method, the invention can drastically reduce the gas pressure of the extracting reagent in comparison with the prior art.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1991Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignees: Mitsui & Co. Patent number: 5033593Abstract: This invention relates to a reinforcement member to be mounted internally in the doors of an automobile, and more particularly to the member comprising two parallel flat members and one or two corrugated members which connect said two parallel members in such a manner as to position the ridges of folds thereof perpendicular to the surfaces of the plate members. The reinforcement member is mounted internally in car doors. When the car receives an impact from the side of the door, the corrugated surfaces of the member can distribute the impact evenly by deforming themselves into a fan-like shape to thereby prevent the door from being abruptly folded at one point.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1989Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignees: Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Kokan Kako Co., Ltd.Inventor: Fukazawa Kazuhito

Patent number: 4928509Abstract: A method for forming projections on the periphery of a pipe in order to provide branch pipes, such as a manifold for automobiles, is characterized in that the branch pipes are formed by a bulging process to have a predetermined thickness without thinning. A first embodiment includes the step of indenting a pipe member by press work or the like, at locations close to the position of a projection which is to be formed, in a preliminary deforming process. The deformed pipe member is then placed in a bulge mold having a recess or space, with the pipe member being positioned so that the indentations in the pipe member lie adjacent the recess in the bulge mold. Pressurized fluid is then introduced into the interior of the pipe member to bulge the wall of the pipe member into the recess in the bulge mold. A second embodiment employs a bulge mold having fixed recesses or spaces and variable recesses or spaces for forming a plurality of projections.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1989Date of Patent: May 29, 1990Assignees: Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Kokan Kako Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masanobu Nakamura

Patent number: 4827585Abstract: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing cam shafts in which cam members are held in respective rotatable axially aligned rings by holding members connected within the rotatable rings so that a pipe member cam be inserted through respective aligned holes of the cam members. The rings are individually rotatable so as to rotate the cam members by respetive predetermined angles. After a pipe member is inserted in the holes of the individually rotated cam members, a bulging process device seals respective opposite ends of the pipe member and forces a pressurized fluid into the pipe so as to bulge the pipe to fix the pipe in the respective holes, thereby to form the cam shaft.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1987Date of Patent: May 9, 1989Assignees: Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Kokan Kako Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masanobu Nakamura

Patent number: 4719760Abstract: Method of and apparatus for freezing food rapidly by immersing the same in the brine. According to the present invention, food is wrapped in a film which is non-permeable to water, and the resultant food is immersed in the fluidized brine of different temperatures in sequence. The food is frozen with little difference between the temperature of its outer circumferential portion and that of its core portion as the food is immersed in the fluidized brine of different temperatures in sequence. Accordingly, no cracks occur in the food while it is frozen, and no change occurs in the quality of protein in the core portion of the food.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1986Date of Patent: January 19, 1988Assignee: Mitsui & Co., Ltd.Inventor: Usui Takayuki
