A polymer polyol is prepared by polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the polyoxyalkylene polyol. A flexible polyurethane foam is prepared by reacting the polyoxyalkylene polyol or the polymer polyol with an organic polyisocyanate compound in the presence of a foaming agent, a catalyst, a surfactant, a crosslinking agent and other additives.

    Abstract: A molded article of a syndiotactic polypropylene having excellent transparency in which a melting point attributed to the polypropylene having the syndiotactic structure measured at a heating rate of 10.degree. C./minute by differential scanning thermal analysis is represented by a substantially single peak, the aforesaid molded article being prepared by heating, melting and then hot-molding a homopolymer of propylene or a copolymer of propylene and a small amount of another olefin, which have a substantially syndiotactic structure, or a mixture of the homopolymer or the copolymer and a small amount of a polypropylene having a substantially isotactic structure, followed by quenching, or, after these steps, additionally subjecting the above molded article to a heat treatment at a temperature of less than its melting point. A method for preparing the above molded article is also disclosed here.

    Abstract: S-phenyl-L-cysteine can be produced in a high yield by reacting thiophenol and L-serine under the action of tryptophan synthase at a pH in a range of from 9.0 to 10.5. Purification of S-phenyl-L-cysteine obtained by this enzyme reaction can be effectively achieved by adjusting the pH of a crystal-containing reaction mixture to a strongly acidic level of 1.5 or lower to dissolve crystals of S-phenyl-L-cysteine, adding activated carbon to the pH-adjusted mixture, maintaining the resultant mixture at a temperature of from 20.degree. to 60.degree. C. under aeration with an oxygen-containing gas, subjecting the thus-obtained mixture to filtration, raising the pH of the resulting filtrate back to a range of from 2.5 to 6.0 to precipitate crystals of S-phenyl-L-cysteine and then recovering the thus-precipitated crystals.

The transparent conductive film and electrode-underlying-layer are preferably formed by a dry process, and the electrodes are preferably formed by a wet plating method.
