Abstract: The problem of the invention is to provide a novel biodegradable polymer without water solubility (hygroscopicity), but with moldability and excellent water disintegratability and biodegradability, a production method thereof, a molded product thereof and applications thereof. The biodegradable polymer of the invention is a biodegradable polymer having one or more imine bonds within a molecule, characterized in that the imine bond constitutes part of a main chain structure of the biodegradable polymer. The biodegradable polymer preferably comprises a biodegradable unit and an imine unit having one or more imine bonds and has a chemical structure, in which the biodegradable units are linked by the imine unit.
Abstract: A deoxidizer includes a porous body of fluorite-type cerium oxide represented by CeOx (where x is a positive number smaller than 2) and having a reversible oxygen deficiency. The deoxidizer has a specific surface area of 0.6 to 1.8 m2/g and a pore median diameter of 1.6 to 5.3 ?m. The cerium oxide used for the deoxidizer is produced by: firing a cerium-containing salt in the atmosphere at 500° C. to 1400° C. for 1 to 20 hours, to produce fluorite-type cerium oxide composed of a porous body; and firing the cerium oxide at 700° C. to 1100° C. for 1 to 3 hours in a reducing atmosphere having a hydrogen concentration equal to or above the lower explosive limit, to remove oxygen from the cerium oxide and produce the fluorite-type cerium oxide represented by CeOx and having a reversible oxygen deficiency.
Abstract: The invention provides an efficient process for producing alkylated aromatic compounds such as cumene in a compact reactor. The invention also provides a process for producing phenol which includes a step of producing cumene by the above process. The process for producing alkylated aromatic compounds of the invention includes feeding raw materials including an aromatic compound and an alcohol in a gas-liquid downward concurrent flow mode to a fixed-bed reactor packed with a solid acid catalyst thereby to produce an alkylated aromatic compound, wherein the raw materials are fed to the reactor in a stream of a gas, and the reaction gas flow rate defined by the equation below is not less than 0.05 at an entrance of a solid acid catalyst layer: ?g·ug·[?air·?water/(?g·?l)]1/2(kgm?2s?1).

Abstract: A sealing material for a flat panel display contains 100 parts by weight of a compound (A) containing at least one epoxy group in the molecule, and 0.01 to 40 parts by weight of a compound (B) that generates a base upon irradiation. The compound (B) that generates a base upon irradiation is preferably a compound that generates a tertiary amine upon irradiation. The sealing material has favorable curability at low temperature, and a long pot life at room temperature, and does not cause deterioration of display members with ionic components and acids.

Lubricating oil viscosity modifiers and lubricating oil compositions contain the copolymers. The cyclic olefin resin composition further includes, based on 100 parts by weight of total amount of the components (A), (B) and (C), (D) 0.01 to 5 parts by weight of a radical initiator and (E) 0 to 5 parts by weight of a polyfunctional compound having in its molecule two or more radically polymerizable functional groups. The composition can be used as a material for a substrate having low permittivity, low dielectric tangent, low water absorbability, and excellent heat resistance.
