    Abstract: The invention provides a process for preparing a polyester comprising a liquid phase polycondensation step in which a dicarboxylic acid including terephthalic acid or its ester derivative and a diol including ethylene glycol or its ester derivative are subjected to polycondensation reaction in liquid phase and molten state under heating in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst to produce a polyester (a) having an intrinsic viscosity, as measured in o-chlorophenol, of 0.7 to 1.5 dl/g; a hot water treatment step in which the polyester (a) is contacted with hot water of 60.degree. to 130.degree. C. for 30 minutes to 10 hours; a drying step in which the polyester after the hot water treatment step is dried at a temperature of 110.degree. to 150.degree. C. for 30 minutes to 6 hours; and a heat treatment step in which the polyester after the drying treatment step is heated at a temperature of 160.degree. to 200.degree. C.

    Abstract: The invention provides a polymeric insulating material having a high dielectric breakdown voltage. The material comprises polypropylene which has been obtained in a yield of at least 300,000 g/g-Ti based on titanium in a catalyst upon polymerization, contains ash in an amount not greater than 40 ppm by weight when analyzed by completely burning the polypropylene in air, said ash containing titanium in an amount not greater than 1 ppm by weight based on the weight of the polypropylene, and also contains chlorine in an amount not greater than 2 ppm by weight and boiling n-heptane soluble matter in an amount not smaller than 1 wt. % but not greater than 10 wt. %. To further improve the dielectric breakdown voltage an inorganic oxide or hydroxide free of particles of 10 .mu.m and greater in diameter and having an average particle size not greater than 1 .mu.

    Abstract: A toner composition for electrophotography comprises at least a binder, a coloring agent and optionally a low molecular weight wax in an amount ranging from 0.5 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the binder as essential components wherein the binder comprises, as a principal component, a resin mixture prepared by heating a resin solution comprising a styrene resin and a block copolymer which comprises blocks derived from at least one member selected from ethylenic hydrocarbons and conjugated diene hydrocarbons and blocks derived from styrene and/or a hydrogenated product thereof in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the styrene resin to remove the solvent. The low molecular weight wax may be included in the binder.

    Abstract: The underside of a base layer consisting of one or more sub-layers is overlaid with an adhesive layer that is chiefly composed of an .alpha.-olefin copolymer that is based on at least two .alpha.-olefins selected from among .alpha.-olefins having 2-12 carbon atoms and which has a crystallinity of up to 10%, and said adhesive layer will develop an initial tack of at least 20 g/25 mm when attached to the surface of a stainless steel plate at 23.degree. C. The thus produced surface protective film, when attached to various kinds of adherends, will not experience separation of the adhesive layer from the base layer while developing strong initial tack, will experience only small changes in adhesive strength (peel strength) with the lapse of time after attachment to the adherends, is sufficiently low in blocking force to provide ease in film handling during the rewinding operation and it yet can be manufactured at low cost.

    Abstract: An actuator unit for a vehicle door locking device comprises a reversible motor, a gear shaft set to an output shaft of the motor, a rotational output member which rotates by engaging with the gear shaft, a driven lever which is changed in at least two positions in accordance with the rotation of the output member, and a housing for storing the above components. The housing is constituted with a main case and a sub case. A first recess for storing the rotational output member, a second recess for storing the motor, a third recess for storing the gear shaft and support means for supporting a rotating shaft of the driven lever are formed on the main case. The output member fitted in the first recess and the gear shaft fitted in the third recess are constituted so that they maintain a meshing state mutually, and each component in the main case is secured at its home position by putting the sub case on the main case.
