Patent number: 8310951Abstract: Disclosed is a network coding method and system for receivers having a different channel state that may demodulate and extract a single coded packet using a different demodulation scheme according to a channel state of each receiver. The disclosed network coding method may use a different demodulation scheme to be suitable for a channel state of each receiver by applying a packet encoding scheme combined with a modulation scheme. When two receivers receive a network coded packet, a receiver having a poor channel state may receive a relatively small amount of information from the single packet compared to the other receiver having a relatively excellent channel state, but may enhance the reliability of packet reception. The other receiver having the relatively excellent channel state may decrease the reliability of packet reception, but may receive a relatively large amount of information.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2010Date of Patent: November 13, 2012Assignees: MMC Technology, Inc., Soongsil University Research Consortium Techno-ParkInventors: Young Han Kim, Hyo Gon Kim, Sang Ki Yun

Publication number: 20120191778Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for providing a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) live streaming service over a Content Distribution Network (CDN). The method includes the steps of (A) a peer present on a network searching for an adjacent surrogate, that is, a superpeer in a bin where peers are grouped, (B) the peer sending a content request message to the surrogate, (C) the surrogate finding a corresponding peer list and then sending the peer list to the peer in response to the content request message, or, if the surrogate cannot find a peer list corresponding to the content request message and makes a request to a surrogate overlay, the surrogate overlay sending information about a surrogate having corresponding content to the peer, and (D) the peer requesting content from the surrogate having sent the peer list or from a surrogate included in the information about a surrogate, and receiving the corresponding content.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2011Publication date: July 26, 2012Applicants: MMC Technology Inc., Soongsil University Research Consortium Techno- ParkInventors: Young Han KIM, Thinh Nguyen Kim

Patent number: 8070196Abstract: A bumper mounting assembly comprises a support member mountable to a vehicle front and a bumper-carrying member hingedly mounted to the support member to be movable between an upright position and a lowered position. A primary actuator is secured to the support member and the bumper-carrying member and can apply braking force against movement of the bumper-carrying member from the upright position to the lowered position and can preferably move the bumper-carrying member from the lowered position to the upright position. One of the bumper-carrying member and the support member carries a detent and the other carries a movable latch and a latch actuator for moving the latch between an engagement position and a disengagement position, with the latch biased into the engagement position so that the latch can selectively retain the bumper-carrying member in the upright position. A system to maintain pressure in a spare tire is also described.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2009Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: MMC Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Wally Couto, John Goddard

Publication number: 20100189065Abstract: A scheduling method for a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method includes (a) selecting n(<N) terminals among the N terminals included in the wireless communication system; (b) receiving channel state information from the selected terminals and allocating wireless resources to at least one terminal among the selected terminals; (c) performing transmission or reception via the allocated wireless resource at the at least one terminal; and (d) newly selecting n terminals and returning to the (b) step, wherein the remaining terminals except for the selected terminals inactivate the transmitting and receiving function at the steps of (b) and (c). Therefore, a wireless cellular network adapted to improve the energy efficiency in fairness is provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2010Publication date: July 29, 2010Applicants: SNU RD&B FOUNDATION, MMC TECHNOLOGYInventors: Saewoong Bahk, Sungguk Yoon, Younghan Kim
