  • Publication number: 20100318384
Abstract: A method of purchasing, paying for and validating a journey wherein the traveler books the journey via a mobile telephone, on the Internet or at a booking terminal of a travel agency. The method includes starting in a superordinate data system including a database an account K that can be billed and a number A. The parameters K and A are stored in the database. An identification unit including an identification number R is transferred to the traveler and is stored in the database coupled to the parameters K and A. The traveller purchases a journey L by connecting his phone to the data system, in which L is stored in the database coupled to the stored identification number R. A validation unit reads the identification number R. A check is carried out in a database to ascertain that a journey L tied to the identification number R has been purchased. A signalling device indicates whether or not a journey L has been bought.

  • Patent number: 7114651
Abstract: A method of controlling vehicles parked in a parking system. A user sends a user-specific code to a parking system computer via a mobile telephone system when beginning and terminating a parking period. The identity of the parking zone concerned is sent to the computer, in which a vehicle-specific code is stored and is tied to the user-specific code. A parking attendant uses a control unit for wirelessly fetching information concerning vehicles that have commenced but not terminated a parking period in the zone concerned. The control unit sends to a telephone coupled to the computer a voice message from the parking attendant that includes a vehicle registration number. The computer compares that registration number with the registration numbers of logged-in vehicles and sends to the control unit a voice message repeating the registration number and including information as to whether the vehicle is logged-in.

  • Patent number: 6577248
Abstract: A parking control system in which a mobile telephone is used to commence and to terminate parking of a vehicle within a parking zone. A parking system user sends a user-specific code to a parking system computer at the commencement of and at the termination of a parking period. A vehicle-specific code corresponding with the parked vehicle is stored in the computer upon commencement of a parking period. A portable parking control unit can read the vehicle-specific code from a parked vehicle and can establish communication with the parking system computer, which is informed of the parking zone concerned. When the control unit requests information concerning vehicles parked within a particular parking zone, the computer sends corresponding information relating to one or more additional parking zones that are geographically close to the parking zone in question.

  • Patent number: 6519329
Abstract: A parking system in which a mobile telephone can be used to commence and terminate a parking period. A user sends at least one code to a receiving computer at the commencement and termination of a parking period via a mobile telephone system or a permanent telephone system. When a user first connects to the parking system by telephone in order to be able to park the user's vehicle within the system and to communicate parking commencement and termination times with the aid of a telephone, either a pay meter, a cash card terminal, or some corresponding device is caused to read mechanically a cash card that is owned by the user and that is accepted by the parking system as a means of payment. The data read from the cash card is stored in a database in a parking system computer, and at least one user-specific reference is entered and stored in the database and is associated with the cash card data for subsequent identification of the user and for billing the user for parking.

  • Patent number: 6513711
Abstract: A parking control system in which a user sends a code to a receiving computer via a telephone system when beginning and terminating a parking period. A vehicle reference, such as a bar code carried by the vehicle or the vehicle registration number, is used to identify the vehicle. Parking time billing is effected by a credit card number coupled to the user. When checking a parked vehicle, a car park attendant causes a control unit to read and store the vehicle reference for marked vehicles, and also to store the date and time. The control unit memory contents are transmitted to the receiving computer and are compared with vehicle parking information that was received by telephone. A parking fine is issued for parked vehicles not having properly commenced a parking period.

  • Patent number: 6481622
Abstract: A parking control unit intended primarily for checking whether a parking fee has been paid in respect of a parked vehicle. The parking control unit is intended for use in a parking system of a kind in which the user registers an account number and the vehicle registration number at the commencement of a parking period, and again registers the account number at the end of the parking period. The account number, the registration number, the parking commencement time, and the parking termination time are stored in the memory of a central computer so that the parking time that has elapsed between the parking commencement time and the parking termination time can be billed to the account number that was registered at the commencement of the parking period.

  • Patent number: 6431454
Abstract: A method of effecting payment with a cash card that includes an electronic purse, such as a smart card that includes a chip and with which money can be deposited in said chip. When used for payment the card is read in a pay terminal, such as a cashpoint teller or automatic teller, and the payment sum is subtracted from the amount stored in the chip. The card includes data relating to a cash card number to which the card is tied. When the card is read in the cash card reader of a pay terminal the cash card number is read and is registered to enable a cash card transaction to be carried out, and the amount available on the chip is also read and registered. The pay terminal subtracts the amount concerned from the chip only when the chip contains an amount sufficient to cover the whole of the sum concerned and remains in the cash card reader for a period of time sufficient for the transaction to be carried out. The pay terminal then erases cash card number that was registered.

  • Patent number: 6246338
Abstract: A method of cash card billing with the aid of pay meters when parking a vehicle, using a parking meter system which includes a plurality of meters. The meters include a cash card reader. A person parking a vehicle finds a first meter (BA 1) where the cash card is read and the cash card account (KN) number and the parking commencement time are stored in a memory (BA1 MEM). When terminating the parking period the person finds a second pay meter (BA 2), which stores the card number (KN) together with the perking termination time (UT) in a memory (BA2 MEM).

  • Patent number: 6026367
Abstract: A method of cash card billing with the aid of parking or pay meters when parking a vehicle. A pay meter system is provided which includes a plurality of pay meters, wherein each pay meter constitutes an independent operative unit and is equipped with a cash card reader. A person parking a vehicle finds a meter and with the aid of the cash card reader feeds into the pay meter information from the cash card relating at least to the cash card account number. When the cash card has been read by the first pay meter (BA1) the meter stores the account number (KN) and the parking commencement time (IT) in a memory (BA1 MEM) that is part of the first pay meter. The first pay meter (BA1) issues a parking ticket on which a transaction number (TN) and parking commencement time (IT) are recorded in a machine-readable form. When terminating the parking period, the parking ticket is read in a second pay meter (BA2), which may be any chosen pay meter in the pay meter system.
