Abstract: In some embodiments, the present disclosure is directed to a multi-modal, scanning, confocal, adaptive-optic macroscope system and related methods of use. Embodiments of the present disclosure improve upon existing photodynamic therapy methods and compete with more invasive oncology procedures (such as surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy) by providing deeper light penetration within the human body, giving medical personnel the ability to treat forms of cancer previously untreatable with existing photodynamic therapies, and with less damage to healthy tissue than current procedures. Embodiments of the present disclosure may be used for other medical purposes including internal artery and vein cauterizing (photo-coagulation), laser pulse induced sonication for dissolving kidney stones, removal of birth marks or tattoos, and/or for photo-biostimulation.
