Abstract: A process for preparing a rubber composition comprises: (a) forming a mixture of: (i) at least one thiocarboxyl-functional hydrolyzable silane, (ii) at least one rubber containing carbon-carbon double bonds, (iii) at least one silane-reactive filler, (iv) at least one activating agent, and (v) water; (b) mixing the composition formed in step (a) under reactive-mechanical-working conditions and in the absence of vulcanizing agent(s); (c) adding at least one vulcanizing agent (vi) to the composition of step (b); (d) mixing the composition of step (c) under non-reactive-mechanical-working conditions; and, (e) optionally, curing the rubber composition of step (d).
Abstract: The invention is directed to personal care compositions comprising an acid functionality bearing silicone neutralized in situ with at least one aminosilane or a partially hydrolyzed aminosilane. The invention provides better stability to formulation in addition to improved delivery of hydrophilic actives from the formulation.

Abstract: There is described a polysiloxane having the structure: wherein R1, R2, and R3 are independently a hydrocarbon radical, an unsaturated radical, an alkoxy radical, an aryl radical or an alkenyloxy radical, R4 is independently a direct bond or hydrocarbon radical optionally substituted with oxygen and nitrogen, R5 is independently a hydrogen, a halogen, an aliphatic group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an aromatic group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an aryloxy group, R6 is independently a hydroxyl group, an amine group, an acid chloride group, or a sulfonyl halide group, x is from 1 to 300; y is from 0 to 50; and z is from 0 to 50. The polysiloxane is used to make various copolymers and polymer blends. A variety of articles can be made using the polysiloxane described as a polymer blend or copolymer.

Abstract: A linear silicone polymer suitable for use in producing homopolymers, copolymers, polymerized emulsions, latex compositions, and hydrogel polymer films. In one aspect, a hydrophilic silicone monomer is of the Formula 1: WAmBnW??(1) Where, A is a divalent block comprising a silicone-containing pendant group. In one embodiment, the silicone-containing pendant group comprises polyalkylene oxide groups. The structure of the polymer can be controlled and tuned to provide a material with excellent wettability and oxygen permeability. The polymers are suitable for use in a variety of applications including in providing a film for forming contact lenses.
Abstract: Moisture-curable resin compositions comprising (a) a moisture-curable polymer having at least one hydrolysable silyl group; (b) a reactive modifier; (c) a catalyst for catalyzing the reaction between the moisture-curable polymer (a) and reactive modifier (b) under curing conditions; and cured compositions produced by contacting such resin compositions with water are disclosed. The moisture-curable resin composition is useful in the production of adhesives, including hot melt adhesives, primers, sealants, and coatings.

Abstract: A process for producing a silane-crosslinked polyolefin which comprises exposing a polyolefin containing at least one [1,3,2]-dioxasilinane ring structure to moisture in the presence of an organic carboxylic acid, which is used as a hydrolysis and condensation catalyst and does not contain tin, thereby producing the silane-crosslinked polyolefin, wherein the polyolefin containing at least one [1,3,2]-dioxasilinane ring structure is made by the process of grafting an olefinically unsaturated [1,3,2]-dioxasilinane to a polyolefin in the presence of a free radical initiator. There is also provided the resulting silane-crosslinked polyolefin and the graftable silane composition used in the process.
