The tear strip has an outer tear strip portion (40) defined between a pair of outer spaced lines of weakness (42, 44) in the outer laminate structure. At least one inner line of weakness (48, 50) is formed in the inner laminate structure offset from the outer lines of weakness. At least a part (54) of the tear strip defined in one of the outer and inner laminate structures is bonded to an overlapping region of the other of the outer and inner laminate structures in a peelable manner. An inner tear strip portion (46) may be defined in the inner laminate structure (24) between a pair of spaced inner lines of weakness (48, 50).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a chewing gum comprising at least one polyethylene (PE) polymer in an amount from about 15% to about 99% by weight of the elastomeric polymer content of said chewing gum, at least one synthetic elastomer chosen from the group of Polyisobutylene (PIB), Butyl Rubber, Polyisoprene and Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) in an amount from about 1% to about 85% by weight of the elastomeric polymer content of said chewing gum and wherein said at least one polyethylene polymer has a molecular weight (Mw) above 25,000 g/mol.

Abstract: Packaging for a generally block shaped product (12) is made from a wrapper (14) of flexible material encasing the product. The wrapper has a foldable flap portion (24) adjacent an end of the package. The free edges (28, 30, 32) of the flap over-lap a further portion (34) of the wrapper and are bonded by means of a peelable and re- sealable adhesive (37). The flap (24) extends fully across one face (38) of the package and at least partially down opposing sides to form a sealed and re-sealable closure for the package. The package can be formed using flow-wrap techniques and is particular suited for packaging chocolate bars and the like.

Abstract: Packaging comprises a blister pack (12) and a cover (14) slidably mounted to the pack. The blister pack has a base (16) defining a pocket (18) for receiving a plurality of items and a closure sheet (24) overlaying a front face of the base. A discrete opening region (26) is defined in the closure sheet. The cover (14) has a dispensing aperture (40) and is movable between a dispensing position in which the dispensing aperture (40) is aligned with the dispensing opening region (26) and a closed position in which the dispensing aperture (40) is offset from the dispensing opening region (26). In one embodiment, the opening region (26) is defined by means of lines of weakness (28) formed in the closure sheet and the inner surface of the cover (14) is bonded to the closure sheet so that on first movement of the cover (14) to the dispensing position, the material in the dispensing opening region (26) is removed to form a dispensing opening in the closure sheet which aligns with the dispensing aperture.

Abstract: The present invention provides a package (10) comprising an outer film layer (32) and at least one inner film layer (34,36), the inner and outer film layers being mutually laminated. The package also comprises a pair of mutually spaced lines of weakness (20) in at least the outer film layer, and means (22) for initiating tearing of the film layers. The lines of weakness and tear initiation means are disposed such that activation of the tear initiation means causes controlled tearing of all the film layers along the lines of weakness. The package is particularly suitable for block products such as chocolate bars.
