Patent number: 10027966Abstract: An apparatus and method to decrease bit rate through direct control of video compression parameters when compressing a video. The video compressing apparatus may use a Region of Interest (ROI)-dependent compression parameter and may include a ROI estimating part, a parameter allocating part, and a compression part. The ROI estimating part may estimate the ROI of an input video. The parameter allocating part may allocate a compression parameter to each region of the input video based on the estimated ROI information. The compression part may compress the input video by applying the parameter allocated to each region. A higher compression rate may be achieved by allocating a higher bit rate to the ROI and a lower bit rate to non-ROI regions.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2010Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: MONDO SYSTEMS, INC.Inventor: Chul Chung

Patent number: 9402100Abstract: Integrated processing of multimedia signals can eliminate unnecessary signal processors and converters without losing the functionality of typical home entertainment system components. The integrated system includes a main player that captures and processes signals digitally, a dummy display, and a dummy speaker. The dummy display may only have a display panel and a panel driver. The dummy speaker may only have a driving unit and no crossover logic. The main player may have a PC architecture and process all signals digitally for outputting signals tailored for the display device and the individual driving units of the dummy speaker. The integrated system may generate parameters for optimizing display of a video source. These parameters can be shared among users over a network connection.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2014Date of Patent: July 26, 2016Assignee: MONDO SYSTEMS, INC.Inventor: Chul Chung

Patent number: 8880205Abstract: Integrated processing of multimedia signals can eliminate unnecessary signal processors and converters without losing the functionality of typical home entertainment system components. The integrated multimedia system includes a main player that captures and processes signals digitally. The main player may adjust the audio signal to provide audio output of equal loudness across all frequencies by accounting for sensitivity of the human ear for sounds of varying frequencies. The main player can also account for perceived differences in loudness based on the angle of a listener to a speaker by detecting the position of a user and making an adjustment accordingly. The invention further provides a speaker that has embedded performance characteristics or an identifier that allows the system to provide an optimal speaker driving current for a particular system or determine how that speaker would be best implemented in the integrated system.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2005Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: Mondo Systems, Inc.Inventor: Chul Chung
