Abstract: A new and distinct selection of Cortaderia selloana (popularly known as pampas grass) and referred to as Cortaderia selloana `Monvin`. A selection with important characteristics of a green and yellow variegation pattern throughout its leaves and possessing a more dwarf overall height and slower growth than the unselected Cortaderia selloana. Another distinguishing character of Cortaderia selloana `Monvin` are the strictly female inflorescences which are more showy than the male inflorescences that could be found on seedlings.

Abstract: This invention relates to a new and distinct selection of Ilex aquifolium shrub (popularly known as English holly) a member of the Aquifoliaceae family referred to as Ilex aquifolium `Monvila`. A sport selection characterized from the plant it was discovered on by its variegated leaf with yellow margins. Our selection differs from Ilex aquifolium `Argenteo-marginata`, a plant with similar foliage color pattern by our new selection having (1) a more compact growth habit; (2) smaller leaves with less numbers of spines and (3) producing strictly male flowers.

Raphiolepis indica cultivar Monruce differs distinctively from its parent, Raphiolepis indica cultivar Enchantress by my new selection having a more dense growth habit, a compact inflorescence, and double flowers with large spreading light pink petals.

Abstract: A new and distinct selection of Raphiolepis indica (L.) Lindl. Shrub (popularly known as Indian Hawthorn) which hereinafter will be referred to as Raphiolepis indica cultivar Monrey. Raphiolepis indica cv. Monrey differs from its parent, Raphiolepis indica cv. Enchantress, by my new selection having flowers with fewer petals which are a richer, darker pink color and a larger and looser inflorescence. Another characteristic of Raphiolepis indica cultivar Monrey is its more open overall growth habit.

Abstract: A new and distinct sport of Photinia.times.fraseri Dress shrub (popularly known as Photinia) which hereinafter will be referred to as Photinia.times.fraseri cultivar Monstock. Differing from its parent, Photinia.times.fraseri by the new selection, Photinia.times.fraseri cv. Monstock possessing a unique combination of smaller leaves with undulate margins and finer serrations along with reddish coppery juvenile foliage and stipules which are green and persistent contrasting with the stems which are a pale red color. Another unique character of Photinia.times.fraseri cv. Monstock is its compact growth habit.

Abstract: A new and distinct selection of Olea europaea Linnaeus (popularly known as an Olive tree) which hereinafter shall be referred to as Olea europaea cultivar Monher. Olea europaea cv. Monher differs from other selections of Olea europaea by possessing unique combinations of more corolla lobes per flower, a lighter green color of foliage, foliage which is longer, more narrow and thinner in texture, and a finer textured appearance to the overall habit of the tree and lack of fruit.

Spiraea.times.bumalda cultivar Monhub differs from other Spiraeas by a combination of attributes of mature foliage a lemon-green color, juvenile foliage yellow with russet new growth, autumn foliage a salmon russet color, light pink flowers, a dense, compact, uniform growth and a tolerance of temperature to minus 42.degree. F.DISCOVERYThis invention relates to a new distinct selection of Spiraea.times.bumalda, a member of the Rose family, Rosaceae. Spiraea.times.bumalda cv. Monhub was a result of direct hybridizing in 1978. The parents are one of my selections hybridized with Spiraea.times.bumalda `Goldflame`. In September of 1979 the selection was made at W. H. Nerium oleander cultivar Monvis differs distinctively from other oleanders by a unique combination of large bright rose flowers, an abundance of flowers, early flowering and a dense compact growth habit.

Abstract: A new and distinct selection of Magnolia grandiflora hybrid (popularly known as a Magnolia) which hereinafter shall be referred to as Magnolia grandiflora cultivar Monland. Due to the characteristics noted in this specification, the selection is believed to be an intraspecific hybrid of Magnolia grandiflora and Magnolia virginiana. Magnolia grandiflora cultivar. Monland differs from other evergreen Magnolias by possessing a combination of continuously heavy blooming due to a unique blooming pattern, longer foliage which forms a dense crown, a growth habit which is wide spreading and few to no fruit cones produced.

Monya differs from seedlings by possessing a combination of broader foliage, a larger number of flowers in the inflorescence, individual flowers a darker and more red color, and individual flowers possessing tepals which are consistent in size.
