  • Patent number: 5596052
Abstract: Amorphous propylene polymers are disclosed having the following characteristics:(a) intrinsic viscosity [.eta.]>1 d1/g;(b) %(r)-%(m)>0, wherein % (r) is the % of syndiotactic diads and %(m) is the % of isotactic diads;(c) less than 2% of the CH.sub.2 groups contained in sequences (CH.sub.2).sub.n, with n.gtoreq.2;(d) Bernoullianity index (B)=1.+-.0.2.These propylene polymers, which are in addition endowed with a narrow molecular weight distribution, can be obtained directly from the polymerization reaction of propylene as sole product and, therefore, do not require to be separated.

  • Patent number: 5589549
Abstract: Multistage process for the polymerization of olefins CH.sub.2 .dbd.CHR, where R is hydrogen or an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical with 1-10 carbon atoms, comprising two stages of polymerization. In a first stage, in the presence of a titanium or a vanadium catalyst and working in one or more reactors, an olefinic polymer with particular values of porosity is prepared; in a second stage, in the presence of the said porous polymer and a metallocene compound and/or their reaction products, one or more olefins, that are equal to or different from those polymerized in the first stage, are polymerized in one or more reactors.

  • Patent number: 5585317
Abstract: The present invention relates to spherical solid components of catalysts for the polymerization of olefins comprising, supported on a magnesium dihalide in active form, a titanium compound containing at least one Ti-halogen bond and one OR group, said OR group being bonded to Ti in an amount such that the OR/Ti molar ratio is greater than or equal to 0.5; optionally the component also comprises an electron donor compound. The spherical solid components of the invention are characterized by having a porosity comprised between 0.35 and 0.7 cm.sup.3 /g and by a pore size distribution such that at least 50% of the porosity is due to pores having an average radius greater than 800 .ANG..

  • Patent number: 5565533
Abstract: A process for the preparation of an ethylene/1-butene or ethylene/1-butene/diene elastomer by slurry polymerization of the monomers in a polymerization medium consisting mainly of an excess of the 1-butene maintained in liquid form, performed in the presence of a catalyst based on a metallocene compound of Ti, Zr or Hf. This process is exempt from occurrence of reactor fouling and enables the recovery of the polymer without the use of steam as a stripping agent.

  • Patent number: 5561195
Abstract: Polymeric compositions based on Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) comprising: (A) from 75 to 95% by weight of an ethylene copolymer with an .alpha.-olefin CH.sub.2 =CHR, wherein R is an alkyl radical having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and (B) from 5 to 25% by weight of a copolymer of propylene with ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin CH.sub.2 =CHR.sup.I, wherein R.sup.I is an alkyl radical having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms. Copolymer (B) is characterised by a relatively high insolubility in xylene. The polymeric compositions of the invention are endowed with improved processability and improved mechanical properties with respect to the LLDPE of the conventional type.
