    Abstract: A surface of a workpiece is treated by rotating about an axis a brush having a multiplicity of radially projecting bristles with tips engaging a surface of a workpiece to be treated while positioning a stop nonrotatable with the brush in engagement with the bristles radially inward of the stop so as to rearwardly deflect the bristles prior to contact with the workpiece and thereby store kinetic energy in the bristles so that as the bristles pass the stop the kinetic energy is released and the bristles spring elastically forward and percussively strike the workpiece surface. A roughness of the workpiece surface is determined and the stop is positioned radially relative to the axis or the brush is positioned relative to the workpiece at a spacing in accordance with the determined roughness.

    Abstract: The subject of the present invention is a rotationally drivable rotary tool device and in particular a rotary brush tool. The two clamping elements (1, 2) are connected releasably together and receive a rotary tool (5, 6). Furthermore, the two clamping elements (1, 2) ensure that the rotary tool (5, 6) is held. According to the invention, the tool-side clamping element (2) and the rotary tool (5, 6) define a structural unit (2, 5, 6). To this end, the clamping element (2) in question is configured as a holding cage (2) that encloses the rotary tool (5, 6) radially and axially at least in part.

    Abstract: A power-brush apparatus has a housing and a brush rotatable on the housing about a brush axis and having bristles extending generally radially of the axis and having tips defining on rotation of the brush a circular orbit centered on the axis. The tips are engageable at a location with a workpiece surface. In accordance with the invention a blocking element is positioned radially inside the orbit immediately upstream from the location in a normal rotation direction of the brush. A drive rotates the brush in a working direction about the axis relative to the housing at a predetermined angular speed in the direction and thereby orbits the tips of the bristles about the axis such that the bristles engage the blocking element, are slowed thereby, and when released thereby snap back to accelerate forward and strike the workpiece at an augmented speed.
