Abstract: An ergonomic motion chair with a dynamic seating surface while the user is sitting in the chair and a seat movement lock that automatically activates to hold the seat stationary while the user initially sits down on the chair. The seat movement lock and/or biasing systems may also automatically return the seating surface to a neutral centered, or predetermined, position when the user exits the seat and then automatically lock the seat in that position thereby holding the seat in a fixed place for the next user. Once seated in the chair, the user may intentionally manually release the seat movement lock to restore full movement of the dynamic seating surface. The seat movement lock may be adapted to work with a wide variety of dynamic seating surface assemblies including those offering seating surface movement about single or multiple pivot axes positioned above or below the seat plane.
Abstract: A chair that provides movement of a seat about an axis of rotation above the seat plane with the seat having a sensor in communication with a computer system that tracks movement. The seat may be simultaneously pivotable about a second axis of rotation defining a range of motion for the seat about the two axes. An actuation system in communication with the computer system can move the seat to desired positions and/or prevent the seat from being positioned at certain locations within the range of motion. The computer system may also include an application that can promote user movement within the seat and allow movement of the seat to be used for gaming, health monitoring and treatment, activity tracking, and the like. The chair may include a mechanism that has one or more glides operably received in curved structures to provide the movement about the axes.
