Abstract: A forming device in a coil spring forming machine for forming a coil spring by winding a heated rod or wire-shaped spring material into a form of a spiral, wherein the forming machine includes an independent cassette mechanism which may be removably mounted to a predetermined site on the body of the forming machine and the independent cassette mechanism is composed of a mandrel around which the rod or wire-shaped spring material is to be wound into a form of a spiral and a guide means for guiding the spring material in a direction along which the spring material may be wound around the mandrel at a required lead angle into a form of a spiral.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and device for making a double-coned coil spring, which comprises using a semi-finished spring having formed upon one end thereof a first conically wound portion with the rest of the wound portion extending axially with a constant maximum diameter, and forming a second conically wound portion upon the free end of the cylindrically wound portion; wherein the cylindrically wound portion is clamped at the site from which formation of the second conically wound portion is to be started by means of a first clamping means, and the open end of the cylindrically wound portion is also clamped by means of a second clamping means; and the second clamping means is allowed to rotate in the direction of winding the semi-finished spring, while the second clamping means is forced to be moved radially inwardly toward the center of the semi-finished spring.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an improved method and apparatus for making a coil spring wherein a wire material is fed on a line of feed which is maintained at a constant position relative to a mandrel adapted for winding the wire material. The mandrel is controlled to pivot into a predetermined angular winding position relative to the line of feed and to move in the axial direction thereof so as to form the wire material into a spring.
Abstract: A method for automatically forming wire frames which consists of the ordered steps of straightening continuously supplied wire stock, cutting the straightened wire stock into prescribed lengths, forming small ripples in portions of each section of the cut wire stock, ejecting and conveying the cut wire stock sections in a lateral direction, pooling the wire stock sections in successive order in a lateral direction, gathering together, removing and conveying a prescribed number of the pooled wire stock sections at given intervals, simultaneously bending a prescribed number of wire stock sections in the same plane as the ripples, removing and conveying the bent stock sections, pooling the conveyed wire stock sections in successive order in a lateral direction, separating the pooled wire stock sections into single sections spaced at equal intervals, intermittently feeding the separated wire stock sections into a press, pressing a three-dimensional bend into the fed wire stock sections and simultaneously ejecting
