  • Publication number: 20230196476
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that optimizes an investment portfolio across multiple investment accounts with differing tax treatments. During operation, the system receives a call to optimize the portfolio for an investor. First, the system solves for a target asset allocation that specifies a desired allocation for investments in each account type in the portfolio across different asset classes or factor exposures. Next, the system performs a portfolio optimization operation to determine the optimal allocations across different investment options for all accounts in the portfolio with the objectives of maximizing expected after-tax alpha for the portfolio, minimizing a tracking error between the portfolio and the target asset allocation, minimizing taxes on realized capital gains, both now and in the future (for taxable accounts), and minimizing trade costs.

  • Patent number: 9740995
Abstract: Embodiments of the presently disclosed invention are directed to a document processing system and method that facilitates the processing and extraction of data from the documents. The system and method receive at least one document, where the document may contain data for extraction. The document may then be converted into a preferred document format and outputted to a user interface. The system and method may then receive a selection of at least a portion of the document, wherein the selection contains data for extraction. Based on the selection, at least one coordinate set corresponding to the selection and associated with at least one data field of interest is generated. Then the data from the selection of the document is extracted using the at least one coordinate set. Finally, a structured data set that includes the extracted data is generating, and storing in a computer memory.

  • Patent number: 6949843
Abstract: A grid-connected power system includes a primary power source, a back-up power source, a DC/AC inverter and a DC/DC converter. Direct current from the primary power source is supplied to the DC/AC inverter to obtain an alternating current output supplied to a utility grid when power from the utility grid is available to power a load. The output of the inverter is supplied to a selected portion of the load when power from the utility grid is unavailable to the load. Direct current from the back-up power source is supplied to the inverter through a DC/DC converter when power from the utility grid is unavailable to the load. The DC/DC converter converts the voltage of direct current from the back-up power source to direct current having a voltage compatible with the voltage of the primary power source and the inverter. The back-up power source may be charged by the primary power source or by the utility grid.
