Abstract: An impeller includes a front plate, a back plate, and a plurality of blades. The front plate has one or more first openings and one or more first locking projections, and the back plate has one or more second openings and one or more second locking projections. Each blade has one or more first and second tabs. The first tabs extend through the first openings of the front plate, and the first locking projections exert a force on the first tabs to secure the blades to the front plate. The second tabs extend through the second openings of the back plate, and the second locking projections exert a force on the second tabs to secure the blades to the back plate.

Abstract: An impeller wheel includes a hub, a center plate affixed to and extending radially outwardly from the hub, and a plurality of fan blades connected to the center plate. The connection between the center plate and each fan blade includes two laterally spaced, angularly extending prongs on the center plate being tightly received in two laterally spaced and angularly extending wedge shaped receptacles in a fan blade notch to frictionally and mechanically secure each fan blade to the center plate. This connection joint can be used for any connection of a plate to another plate or to a blade and for any type of impeller.
Abstract: A center plate-blade attachment configuration for a centrifugal blower wheel which gives improved high speed rupture strength and improved resistance to the center plate slipping circumferentially relative to blades. The inner edge of each blade is provided with a T-shaped notch and the edges of the two discs forming the center plate are forced axially into the slots forming the ends of the head of each T, a distance such that the edges of the disc and the base of the slot are plastically deformed.
