Abstract: A system and method for collecting and aggregating data from a plurality of data generating machines. The system includes a plurality of data generating machines each having a transceiver for transmitting data pertaining to a monitored sales event of each of the plurality of data generating machines via at least one of a terrestrial, Internet, satellite, and landline network. At least one first computer receives and cumulatively stores the data transmitted by each of the plurality of data generating machines. At least one second computer is operatively communicable with the at least one first computer and runs at least one application software program that analyzes the data to determine consumer buying habits and/or preferences. Advertising data can be transmitted that provides message content at least partially determined by an analysis of the data.

Abstract: A system and method of polling wireless devices having a substantially fixed geographic location, and optionally receiving data from one or more of the polled devices, in a manner that efficiently utilizes network resources.
Abstract: A system and method for enabling a user to query availability, roaming history and/or modem statistics of a wireless device that can roam between at least two different wireless networks, without assistance from network service provider personnel.

Abstract: A system and method for enabling a first device that may optionally roam between at least first and second wireless networks to communicate with a second device that may optionally roam between the at least first and second wireless networks. The devices are preferably registered to each network in which the device may roam. A routing switch first transmits a data message to the receiving device at the last known location of the receiving device. If a negative acknowledgement is received, the message is routed to all other networks to which the receiving device is registered, either serially or in parallel, depending upon the configuration of the transmitting network. Routing devices and/or gateways are preferably provided for each network to provide any required protocol and/or message format conversions.

Abstract: A wireless communications system is provided that enables a user to send data pertaining to the shipment and/or delivery of goods, preferably from a handheld device, to at least one data file associated with at least one respective application program residing on a remote computing device. The application program rapidly receives the sent data and integrates the data into at least one data file associated therewith, thereby enabling more timely and efficient business operations. In a preferred embodiment, user input is minimized by using a macro feature, and users can input data fields in any order without affecting the performance or reliability of the system.
Abstract: A system and method for enabling a first device (502, 504, 506) that may optionally roam between at least first and second wireless networks (500, 1102) to communicate with a second device (502, 504, 506) that may optionally roam between the at least first and second wireless networks (500, 1102). The devices (502, 504, 506) are preferably registered to each network in which the device may roam. A routing switch (1112) first transmits a data message to the receiving device at the last known location of the receiving device. If a negative acknowledgement is received, the message is routed to all other networks to which the receiving device is registered, either serially or in parallel, depending upon the configuration of the transmitting network. Routing devices (1112) and/or gateways (1110) are preferably provided for each network (500, 1102) to provide any required protocol and/or message format conversions.

Abstract: A packet switched multi-mode mobile communication network and fixed and mobile devices for use therewith are disclosed. Each of the mobile vehicle equipment and a base station packet switch are coupled to respective data terminal equipment which generates packet data messages. The packet data messages have message characteristics associated therewith. Each of the mobile vehicle equipment and the base station packet switch have an intelligent switching node incorporated therein for selecting which of a plurality of radio frequency transmission paths to use in transmitting the packet data message to the other of the mobile vehicle equipment and the base station packet switch. Each of the plurality of radio frequency transmission paths has transmission path characteristics associated therewith.
