Patent number: 6431356Abstract: An improved method of packaging bicycles for transport or retail is disclosed which involves a minimum of disassembly before packaging. The front wheel is removed and secured alongside the frame with a packing disk between to keep the frame and wheel from contacting. The wheel is affixed to the frame to reduce movement. The right pedal is removed, wrapped, and affixed to the bicycle. The left pedal is moved to the lowermost position, out of the way of the front wheel. The handle bars are turned and affixed in a position parallel to the frame, requiring the packaging to have a minimum width. The derailleur is set to the furthest inside position. A fork insert is positioned on the fork to keep it from breaking through the packaging. This provides for the use of a minimum of wrapping materials while still protecting the bicycle. The positioning of the wheel, right crank arm, and handle bars takes up the least area and protects the frame because it never touches the box.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2001Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: Motiv Sports, Inc.Inventor: Mark McNeill

Patent number: 5735536Abstract: A skate assembly has a skate chassis, a boot and a motive member such as rollers or an ice blade. The skate chassis having an elongated body, a heel member and a toe member. The body having concave portions which reduce torsional flex on the chassis. Raised ribs and channels of the body and the members are engaged so as to allow the members to slide longitudinally along the body. The boot can be mounted on the heel and the toe members, and the motive member can be attached to the chassis, thus forming a skate assembly. The toe member having a curving plate for preserving the shape of the boot. Moreover, the heel and toe members can be positioned at numerous distances from one another on the body, thus supporting different boot sizes and providing different positions for the boot on the body.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1995Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: Motiv Sports, Inc.Inventors: Robert Myers, Richard Maertz
