Patent number: 10400977Abstract: A headlight assembly with a headlight cover having at least one opening to allow a beam of light from a headlight to pass through the opening. The headlight cover may be secured using a snap-fit to allow a user to release and rotate the headlight cover about the hinge without the use of a tool. Once the headlight cover is rotated open, an operator may then adjust a plurality of fasteners located on a headlight sub-assembly to adjust the direction of the beam from the headlight. The headlight sub-assembly may further be rotated about a second hinge to replace a headlight or more extensive repairs.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2017Date of Patent: September 3, 2019Assignee: Motor Coach Industries LimitedInventor: Rod Maskiw

Patent number: 10059383Abstract: A motor coach comprises a front door, a front stairwell, an upper aisleway, upper seats, a side door and a mobility impaired area. The front stairwell leads from the front door. The upper aisleway leads from the front stairwell. The upper aisleway is generally at the level of the top of the upper stairwell. The upper seats are along the upper aisleway. The side door may be lower than or at the same height as the front door, and leads to the mobility impaired area, which is inside and generally at the level of the bottom of the side door. The upper aisleway, upper seats, and mobility impaired area are all together in one unified passenger compartment while separated by differences of location of doors for loading and heights of floors. Numerous advantages flow, including but not limited to the following: loading and unloading times for mobility impaired passengers are substantially improved, especially as compared to typical high floor, wheelchair lift equipped coaches.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2016Date of Patent: August 28, 2018Assignee: Motor Coach Industries LimitedInventors: John-Paul Pelletier, Paul Fazio

Patent number: 8594900Abstract: An enhanced wheel data processing unit may analyze tire air temperature data from a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and antilock brake system (ABS) wheel speed sensor fault codes from an ABS controller within a vehicle. When the enhanced wheel data processing unit determines that the tire air temperature is above a predetermined threshold for a given tire and that an ABS wheel speed sensor fault code exists for the wheel end corresponding to the same tire, the enhanced wheel data processing unit may initiate a vehicle shutdown or derate procedure. The vehicle shutdown or derate procedure may include instructions to give an operator of the vehicle a warning indicator for a predetermined time period before shutting down or derating the engine power to the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2012Date of Patent: November 26, 2013Assignee: Motor Coach Industries LimitedInventors: Bryan Couch, Daniel Edward Olson

Patent number: 5678883Abstract: A motor coach designed generally for highway travel has a passenger compartment between sides of the coach and forwardly of the rear wall of the coach and defined above a raised floor of the coach. Underneath the floor is provided an engine compartment behind the rear wheels of the coach and luggage compartment forward of the rear wheels. A lavatory compartment is located at the junction between the rear wall and one side wall and immediately forwardly of the lavatory compartment is provided a floor area on which the rear seats at that side of the coach can be moved forwardly to a stored position to form an open area of the coach aligned with a wheel chair lift mounted in the engine compartment and arranged to lift a passenger from the ground onto the floor of the coach into the area forwardly of the lavatory compartment.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Assignee: Motor Coach Industries LimitedInventors: Ronald B. Patent number: 5651579Abstract: A stairway for a motor coach is located in one side wall of the motor coach immediately adjacent the front wall and in front of the front wheel well. The stairway cooperates with a hinged door mounted at the front wall and openable to an angle less than 90.degree. from the coach side. The stairway is defined by a plurality of steps of equal riser height together with two vertical side walls each on a respective side of the stairway. The walls are smoothly curved around a center of curvature rearwardly of the stairway and to one side of the coach so that the stairway smoothly curves from a front edge at the doorway to a ramp section of the aisle commencing at a line at right angles to the side of the coach. The front edge of each step is at an angle to the front edge of the next step so that the steps provide gradual turning from the side of the coach to the front of the aisle.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1995Date of Patent: July 29, 1997Assignee: Motor Coach Industries LimitedInventor: John Krieger
