  • Patent number: 4708116
Abstract: An injection system for a diesel engine with an injection pump for each cylinder has a delivery control valve 16 which is subjected to hydraulic control commands from a single central servohydraulic system, so that the respective spool 39 of the delivery control valve 16 connects the high pressure pump chamber 35 of the injection pump with its supply chamber 36. This bypassing connection occurs simultaneously in all the delivery control valves 16, however, movement of the delivery control spool 39 to a more fully open position takes place only if the associated injection pump is delivering fuel to the nozzle because the delivery pressure is used to complete the opening movement of the delivery control valve spool 39. In addition, a similarly operated pilot injection valve 60 is provided.

  • Patent number: 4625682
Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine has at least one receptacle socket, penetrating a coolant chamber, for a spark plug and/or an injection valve. At one end, the socket rests tightly, with a frustoconical seating face, against a corresponding seating face of a seat embodied on a lower cylinder head wall, and at its other end the socket is retained in the associated cylinder head wall and is pressed axially against the seat. In order to attain particularly intensive cooling in the vicinity of the nozzle of the injection valve and/or the spark plug, the seating face on the respective socket is embodied as a female cone, and the associated seating face on the respective seat is embodied as a male cone, and the associated end faces of the respective socket are open toward the coolant chamber.

  • Patent number: 4589397
Abstract: An apparatus for adapting to gases of different calorific values in the supply of gas-air mixture to gaseous-fuel engines has a gas line with a gas pressure regulator and an air line, each of which discharged into a gas-air mixer. Leading out of the mixer is a mixture line, in which a mixture valve is disposed. The mixture line leads to the intake manifold of the gas engine. In order to be able to use gases of different calorific values without unfavorably varying the gas-air ratio in the partial-load range, a preferably adjustable throttle is disposed in a bypass line leading from the air line to the mixture line, bypassing the mixer.

  • Patent number: 3937017
Abstract: To simplify control, decrease start-up time and improve efficiency, a heat storage device is provided connected to receive hot combustion gases from a burner, the heat storage device preferably including a vessel which contains a substance changing in phase between solid and liquid, and being heated by the exhaust gases from the burner. A heat pipe is in heat transfer relation to the substance, extending in a predetermined direction, and ducts, pipes or conduits conducting the combustion gases from the burner extend in parallel to the heat pipe, through the substance, or surrounding a vessel containing the substance. Preferably a group of heat storage units are joined to common inlet and outlet manifolds connecting combustion gases, arranged such that the flow speed of combustion gases further downstream is higher than that further upstream, to equalize heat transfer and hence storage capability and storage times of the individual units.
