  • Patent number: 4700189
Abstract: A linear synchro/resolver comprised of an opposed pair of stator assemblies, each of which has a plurality of corresponding, opposed, toothed pole piece pairs, a toothed slider movably mounted between the opposed sets of pole piece pairs, and wherein the pole piece pairs on each stator assembly are spaced apart along the assembly's length by a non-integral multiple of the pitch of the stator teeth. Separate coils are wound on the stator pole pieces, with the coils of adjacent and opposed pairs of coils being connected together in phases. The inductance of the coils is thus a function of the alignment of the slide teeth with the stator pole piece teeth. A source of alternating current is connected to the phases of coils, the current magnitude flowing through each phase of the coils is detected, and the current magnitude differences between the phases are amplified.

  • Patent number: 4568865
Abstract: A synchro/resolver, preferably for use in combination with a similarly constructed servo motor, having an annular stator with circumferentially arranged poles, each having a plurality of regularly pitched teeth and each pole with its own coil winding thereon, and with the coils being connected in phases, an annular, toothed rotor positioned adjacent to the stator so that a change in rotational position of the rotor changes the inductance of the coil windings as a function of the position of the rotor's teeth vis-a-vis the stators' teeth, and a detecting circuit for sensing alternating current flowing in each coil phase and for amplifying the differences between the currents in each phase to produce a rotational position output signal for commutating the motor, the stator being divided at its longitudinal midpoint into two halves which are rotated with respect to each other by a distance equal to one tooth pitch divided by the number of phases and being separated from each other by a lamina of non-magnetic mat

  • Patent number: 4551708
Abstract: A synchro/resolver, preferably for use in combination with an identically constructed servo motor, having an annular stator with circumferentially arranged poles, each with its own coil winding thereon, and with the coils being connected in phases, an annular rotor positioned adjacent to the stator so that a change in rotational position of the rotor changes the inductance of the coil windings as a function of the rotational position of the rotor, and a detecting circuit for sensing alternating current flowing in each coil phase and for amplifying the differences between the currents in each phase to produce a rotational position output signal for commutating the motor.

  • Patent number: 4501980
Abstract: An electric motor comprised of laminated, coaxial, annular, inner and outer stators with an annular rotor coaxially positioned between the stators and with coils wrapped about corresponding, angularly spaced apart pole pieces of the inner and outer stators to generate a magnetic flux path which passes radially outward and inward through the rotor from the inner and outer stator pole pieces.

  • Patent number: 4481453
Abstract: The present invention is a torque loop control system for reducing the angular position error in a microstepping motor movement when the motor is under a torsional load comprising means for sensing the torsional load on a microstepping motor and producing a sensor output signal indicative of the torsional load, means for receiving and summing an input signal indicative of the desired position of the microstepping motor and the sensor output signal and for producing as an output signal a corrected position signal, and means responsive to the corrected position signal for developing a drive signal for the microstepping motor.

  • Patent number: 4458168
Abstract: A synchro/resolver in which a plurality of primary windings and secondary windings are wound on separate stator pole pieces having projecting teeth, with the stator poles of the secondary windings being located between the stator pole pieces of the primary windings and further including a rotor with teeth which are juxtaposed to the stator teeth for differentially coupling magnetic flux generated in the primary windings to the secondary windings as a function of the position of the rotor's teeth vis-a-vis the stators' teeth.
