Patent number: 9160120Abstract: A spark plug connector (1) including a connector body (21) formed as an insulator having a spark plug high voltage contact (35) for producing a connection to and with a spark plug (6). The connector body (21) has a connection point (23) for receiving, mounting and/or connection of a spark plug connector (1) extending structural element (22). The structural element (22) is arranged at the junction (23) in such a manner such that the structural element (22) lengthens the connector body (21) on the side remote from the spark plug high voltage contact. The ignition cable (3) is held or guided along the length of the structural element (22) and the material of the structural element has a higher rigidity and strength and/or a lower density with at the same time less material than the material of the connector body (21).Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2012Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignee: MOTORTECH GmbHInventor: Claus Schulze

Patent number: 9004929Abstract: A method for producing electric components (1) for high-voltage applications, in particular ignition systems. An insulator (3) is produced as a hollow body from a thermoplastic material by an injection-molding method, the electrical functional part (2) is introduced into the insulator (3), and a casting material is cast in the intermediate space between the electrical functional part (2) and the insulator (3). Also, an electric component (1) having an electrical functional part (2) and an insulator (3) for high-voltage applications, in particular ignition systems The insulator (3) preferably consists of polyphenylene sulfide having a glass fiber content.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2011Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: MOTORTECH GmbHInventor: Claus Schulze

Patent number: 8893692Abstract: An ignition system and method for internal combustion engines with which a reliable triggering of an ignition spark is provided with control of the ignition process over the entire firing duration, wherein an excessive stress on the ignition coil and spark plug is avoided. By detecting the primary current and evaluating it in a control loop, the state of the secondary circuit can be detected reliably. In the case of a disturbance, for example at strongly spent spark plug, the ignition current is immediately readjusted via the control circuit in order to avoid a disruption in spark. This ignition current control thus reacts automatically to sources of defect on the secondary side current.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2011Date of Patent: November 25, 2014Assignee: MOTORTECH GmbHInventors: André Brandes, Rainer Voelz
