    Abstract: A piece of luggage, rucksack or satchel is provided having a pair of spaced shoulder straps. At least one strap has a stress/strain unit to monitor the stress/strain in the strap as the piece is worn on the shoulder of a user. The at least one strap also has an indicator that provides a visual indication when the stress/strain of the strap has exceeded a predetermined threshold.
