  • Patent number: 9979827
Abstract: A method for routing calls between a third party telecommunications device (“TD”) and a subscriber TD associated with a primary service and a second line service (“SLS”) involves associating the SLS number of the subscriber, the primary number of the subscriber and the primary number of a third party via a common relationship number. Calls directed from a third party to the SLS number of a subscriber are routed to an SLS platform and redirected to the subscriber TD. Calls directed from the subscriber TD to the third party use the relationship number to route the call to the SLS platform. The combination of the SLS number and the relationship number identifies the third party calling number for call completion. Calls can be directed to and from an SLS number of a subscriber TD without having to coordinate the provisioning of a call through the subscriber's primary service provider.

  • Patent number: 8605870
Abstract: A Virtual Subscriber Service (VSS) is a system and method for operators to provide multiple mutually exclusive telephone numbers, each with its own unique plan features, to a subscriber who is associated with a single terminating device. VSS makes it possible for a subscriber to manage communications directed toward any telephone number associated with his telephone as if any one of the telephone numbers were the only number associated with the telephone. Further, in addition to the primary number, a VSS subscriber can originate communications or return missed communications from the virtual telephone numbers associated with his terminating device. More specifically, some embodiments of a VSS involve the use of a pre-paid account associated with a telecommunications service that has a primary destination code as well as a virtual destination code directed toward a common terminating device such as a mobile telephone.

  • Patent number: 8036350
Abstract: A voice mail system that allows for the delivery of voice messages by chunks, thereby optimizing the delivery of the information. When a subscriber attempts to listen to his or her voice mail message, the header information for the first voice mail message is down loaded and played back to the subscriber. While the subscriber listens to the header information, the next two blocks of data of the voice message are downloaded. Upon the completion of the playback of the header information, the first two blocks of the voice mail message are available for playback and the first block is immediately available for playback. As the subscriber listens to the voice mail message subsequent blocks of the first voice mail message, and optionally header information and blocks of subsequent voice mail messages are simultaneously down loaded.
