  • Publication number: 20120160967
Abstract: A control system for an aircraft including a passive feedback arrangement, a stick and a positioning arrangement is provided that provides for user adjustability of the resistance applied to the stick, such as in a fly-by-wire system. The passive feedback arrangement is movable relative to a mechanical ground. The stick is moveable relative to the mechanical ground and the passive feedback arrangement. The passive feedback arrangement acts on the stick to resist movement of the stick relative to the passive feedback arrangement. This resistance provides passive feedback to the pilot for the fly-by-wire system. The positioning arrangement is coupled to the passive feedback arrangement for adjusting the position of the passive feedback arrangement relative to the mechanical ground in response to movement of the stick relative to the mechanical ground.

  • Publication number: 20120097800
Abstract: A control input system is provided. The system includes a pair of control columns that are selectively interconnected such that manipulation of one of the control columns is translated to the other one of the control columns. The system includes a disconnect arrangement for each of the degrees of freedom (pitch and roll) of the system that operably disconnects the two control columns such that the two control columns can operate independently such as in the event of failure of one of the control columns. The system may also include a discontinuous force profile for a restoring force mechanism that provides tactile feedback to the pilots simulating resistance provided by control surfaces of the aircraft. The system may also include an autopilot lockout mechanism that increases the force profile experienced by the pilots when autopilot mode is entered.

  • Publication number: 20120025030
Abstract: An indirect drive active control column for an aircraft control system is provided. The indirect drive active control column provides both active and passive feedback to the control stick. The passive feedback relates to adjustments of the control stick relative to a feedback neutral position. The active feedback actively adjusts the position of the feedback neutral position to adjust a feedback profile of the passive feedback.

  • Publication number: 20120025031
Abstract: An active control column transitionable to a fully passive state for an aircraft and methods of use are provided. The control column includes a passive feedback arrangement, a stick and a ground lock mechanism is provided. The passive feedback arrangement is moveable relative to a mechanical ground to adjust a feedback profile provided to the stick. The stick is movable relative to the mechanical ground and the passive feedback arrangement. The ground lock mechanism has a locked state in which the passive feedback arrangement is maintained in a fixed position relative to the mechanical ground. This places the control column in a fully passive state. The ground lock mechanism also has a normal state in which the passive feedback arrangement is permitted to move relative to the mechanical ground such that active feedback can be provided to the stick.

  • Publication number: 20120025029
Abstract: A aircraft control system is provided. that provides tactile feedback between control columns of the aircraft relating to discrepancies in the control inputs to the sticks of the respective control columns. In one implementation, the sticks each have an associated feedback assembly that is adjustable relative to mechanical ground to adjust the feedback profile applied to the corresponding stick. The position of each feedback assembly is adjusted based on a relative displacement between the other feedback assembly and its corresponding stick to provide active feedback relating to the control of the other control column.

  • Publication number: 20110053488
Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an exhaust gas fan system. The control system may control one or more components of the exhaust system to optimize system performance and improve energy efficiency. The control system may be designed to maintain a substantially constant pressure in the exhaust header and provide a substantially constant flow through the exhaust fans. The control system may include software and hardware that allow the control system to control one or more of: modulation of one or more by-pass dampers; adjustment of the nozzle outlet area; varying the speed of the fans; the number and staging of fans. By utilizing and controlling one or more of these functions, the amount of energy being used may be minimized/optimized.

  • Publication number: 20100326928
Abstract: A filtration system and methods for using same are disclosed. The filtration system can include a frame, and a plurality of filters coupled to the frame and coupled to each other in series. A pump can provide a pressure differential that causes fluid to flow through the filters in series. The first filter can be provided as a pre-filter, and one or more additional filters can include pleated, calendared, micro-fiber filters. Another filter can be a percentage removal nano-filter that is adapted to remove sub-micron particles from the fluid. The nano-filter can include three pleated filter layers. Each pleated filter layer can be oriented approximately concentrically about a common longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 7320751
Abstract: An adapter for a water supply system includes castlellations around the periphery of the mounting hub. The castellations eliminate the continuous sealing surface required for a standard filter end cap to effective seal to the adapter. The mounting hub has ribs on the internal periphery to prevent insertion of filter cartridge end caps with a flat O ring seal or with an O ring seal around the periphery thereof.

  • Publication number: 20070036881
Abstract: In the drying of thin stillage in a corn-to-ethanol process, suspended solids are largely separated from the thin stillage by electrocoagulation and polyacrylamide flocculation. Whole stillage contains solids that must be dried. Prior to the dryer, the whole stillage is processed in a centrifuge that generates wet cake. The wet cake goes directly to the dryer. The thin stillage from the centrifuge is treated with electrocoagulation and polyacrylamide polymer prior to being sent to a rotary screen drum and settling tank. The settling tank supernate is then sent to an evaporator. Condensate is taken off in the evaporator leaving syrup that is sent to the distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) dryer along with the wet cake. The syrup is of significantly higher solids content with the current invention than with Prior Art technology.
