Abstract: A system for locating an object, comprising one or more of a first GPS receiver and a first long and short range transceiver onboard a subject object at a first location; one or more of a second GPS receiver and a second long and short range transceiver onboard a secondary object at a second location; a control center for transmitting a location query message requesting first location information; the first long range transceiver transmitting the first location information to the control center, or the first short range transceiver transmitting the first location information and a subject object identification to the second short range transceiver, that transmits the first location information and the subject object identification to the control center, or the second long range transceiver transmitting the second location information to the control center when the subject object and the secondary object are within a predetermined distance.
