  • Patent number: 4448004
Abstract: An improvement is provided in a removeable partition wall system wherein gypsum board panels, having suspension assemblies attached thereto, are suspended from horizontal channel support members extending through cut-outs formed in the webs of vertical channel stud members. The support members are preferably V-shaped or semi-circularly shaped. The cut-out comprises upper and lower portions. The upper portion is sized to permit the support member to be inserted therethrough on edge. The lower portion forms a seat dimensioned and shaped to conform with the outline of the support member. The cut-out is formed to provide locking shoulders, at the confluence of the upper and lower portions, which function to hold the support member (when seated) against rotation or vertical displacement.

  • Patent number: 4394808
Abstract: The fastener comprises the combination of a gang nail plate and a clip. The plate is driven into the gypsum board panel to attach itself thereto. The clip connects with the plate and extends beyond its side edge. A screw or nail is driven through an aperture in the protruding end of the clip, to secure the panel to a supporting stud. The gang nail plate is known. It consists of a plate having tangs protruding from the inner face thereof and a slot-forming transverse member protruding from the outer face. The clip is a flat, rectangular, spring steel plate formed with an upwardly inclined inner end, a flat outer end, and a downwardly inclined central portion. The clip's inner end is wedged into the slot to tightly connect panel, plate and clip.

  • Patent number: 4245448
Abstract: A suspension assembly is provided for suspending gypsum board panels from a horizontal support member. The plate portion of the suspension assembly has panel piercing tangs of a novel twisted conformation projecting rearwardly to affix the plate to the panel. A narrow neck portion of the plate forms channel means to receive the upper portion of a separate suspension clip. The lower portion of the clip is inclined outwardly to engage the horizontal support member. A plurality of transverse lines of weakness comprising slots and notch means extending substantially across the width of the neck portion of the plate are designed such that when the gypsum board panel is suspended from the support member, the load applied between the clip and the plate causes the neck portion of the plate to bend outwardly from the panel along said lines of weakness, while the upper and lower plate portions remain affixed to the panel.
