  • Publication number: 20120210887
Abstract: In a working method using a device for operating presses comprising a ram and a die, such as forming presses or cutting presses, for example multiple-die presses for large workpieces, transfer presses, multi-ram transfer presses, such forming presses or cutting presses also being arranged in press lines, smaller ram strokes result in optimized freedom of motion of the press, in place of the existing large freedom of motion, the acceleration and speed of the ram are at most maintained, or reduced, while parts output is increased, and smaller paths are made possible due to dynamic ram stroke and transfer movements. To this end, the work process of the ram stroke of presses is controlled according to a curve that follows the function f(x)=a(0)/2+a(1)*cos(1*x)+ . . . +.

  • Patent number: 6715981
Abstract: A transport system provided in particular for large-component transfer presses is distinguished by a design with a low width and, nevertheless, permits large transport steps. By controlling two drives in the direction of rotation in relation to each other, all desired travel curves in one plane can be realized. As a result of the simple construction, a cost-effective solution is achieved for a highly dynamic transport system.

  • Patent number: 5201358
Abstract: In a die-casting machine for producing castings from metals or metal alloys, which castings have a low content of gas, pores and oxides, melt is drawn by means of a vacuum out of a holding device (10) via a suction tube (11) into a casting chamber (3). A casting plunger (7) closes the inlet opening (16) to the casting chamber (3). In order to achieve as low as possible mechanical surface pressure due to flow of the melt, and fluviatile erosion of the die-side end of the inlet opening (16), and thus avoid high wear of this inlet edge or of the casting chamber with casting plunger, a planar or linear inlet cross-section (24, 27) as well as a curved deflection surface (20) on the casting plunger (7) are provided.

  • Patent number: 4832109
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of damping the pressure peak occurring at the end of the die filling phase in die casting machines, with a hydraulic damping device being disposed between the piston rod of the drive piston and the piston rod of the casting piston. The damping chamber of the damping device is closed by a control piston through which no fluid flows in the case of damping and which is not required to move against the direction of movement of the casting piston rod in order to open the control edge. It is here the object of the invention to shorten to a minimum the response time of the control piston. According to the invention, a device is proposed for this purpose which is characterized in that the chamber (25) disposed on the side opposite the reservoir chamber (10) of the control piston (4) is connected to a pressure medium conduit (26) in which a control valve (27) is disposed.

  • Patent number: 4660614
Abstract: A die casting process for making castings by means of a horizontally oriented cold-chamber die casting machine comprises the steps of advancing a casting piston in the casting chamber from a starting position for ejecting the molten metal dosage from the casting chamber; and withdrawing the casting piston into the starting position. The withdrawing step includes the step of passing over metal residues adhering to walls of the casting chamber. Subsequent to the withdrawing step and prior to the charging step of a successive cycle, the casting piston is advanced in the casting chamber void of molten metal dosage for ejecting the metal residues by the casting piston from the charging chamber and returning the casting piston into its starting position.

  • Patent number: 4519309
Abstract: For the exchange of tools in a press, the tools, including their associated gripper rail sections, are moved out of the press on a sliding table having a gripper rail support. To ensure that the gripper rails do not block access to the tool, the gripper rail support is adjustable in height. This permits lowering of the gripper rails sections to the extent that access to the tool is unimpeded.

  • Patent number: 4503766
Abstract: The present invention relates to a parts depository particularly for large-area workpieces processed in a transfer press handling large workpieces, with the tool free stage disposed between the machine columns being designed as a so-called empty stage for the deposit of the workpiece parts. To avoid the manual work previously required to adapt the parts depository to the new workpiece when changing from one workpiece type to another and to make the change as fast and automatic as possible, the present invention proposes to arrange a plurality of supporting elements in the empty stage so as to serve as support for the workpiece part, with the supporting elements being adjustable and settable in height.
