  • Patent number: 4191445
Abstract: An improved electrical connector formed from a louvered device provided with a layer of electrical conducting material on the louvered portion of the device. The clad layer forms a bridge between a pair of electrical current-carrying members when the louvered device is disposed between the members and when the clad material is in electrical contact therewith. The louvered device can be used individually or in an assembly of a group of such devices. The assembly can be in a form suitable to allow the assembly to fit between a pair of flat electrically conducting plates. Other forms of the assembly include a cylindrical configuration wherein the devices are arranged about the inner periphery of an electrically conducting sleeve and arranged to contact a plug inserted into one end of the sleeve. Other forms of assembling the individual louvered devices can be used to fit specific design requirements.

  • Patent number: 4080033
Abstract: An improved electrical connector comprised of a plurality of spaced, angled, electrically conducting fins which are resiliently mounted and have curved outer edges for making electrical bridging contact between conductors disposed on opposite sides of the fins. A device used to bridge a gap between conductors of electrical current. The method of making the device includes providing a generally flat sheet capable of being severed or pierced and expanded, forming a number of pairs of slots in the sheet to present sheet portions between respective slot pairs and then applying oppositely directed forces to the opposed sides of the sheet to expand the same and to cause the sheet portions to be pivoted out of the plane of the sheet and into respective angled positions to form the fins. A permanent set then exists between the fins and the remainder of the sheet or the metal can be hardened. The sheet can be cut into different sizes and shapes to meet specific requirements.

  • Patent number: 4013329
Abstract: Apparatus defining an electrical connection capable of carrying relatively high electrical currents including a number of heavy-duty electrical conductors normally spaced apart and electrically interconnected by an improved connector unit having a plurality of spaced, stacked plates having louvered electrical connector devices. Each plate has a pair of opposed faces with each face having one or more grooves therein. Each groove is provided with one of the louvered electrical connector devices. Each such device has a plurality of spaced, electrically conducting, resiliently mounted fins whose curved outer edges are adapted to engage the corresponding plate and to make electrical contact with the adjacent electrical conductor. A number of embodiments of the apparatus are disclosed.
