Abstract: The invention relates to an article for oxygen absorption that is a container containing a water-soluble on source, a water activated oxygen scavenger, and a rupturable canister of hydrated polymer. The hydrated polymer comprises a superabsorbent polymer. The water-soluble on source comprises a salt. The invention in another embodiment relates to a method for providing timed oxygen absorption using the article as above with rupturing of the canister to release the water carrying superabsorbent such that it will contact the oxygen scavenger and on source thereby leading to activating the oxygen scavenger.

Abstract: An extruded or molded article containing iron based oxygen scavenger, electrolytes, activated carbon, silica gel, or other water absorbing media, and optionally pore formers, is subjected to deformation to create voids or porosity, and subjected to water spraying or dipping to obtain a water activity of 0.4 or higher. The article is placed in a container or package containing oxygen sensitive articles.
Abstract: A material handling apparatus for conveying an article having a ferromagnetic component includes a hopper, a discharge, and a magnet. The hopper has an inlet and outlet and defines a hopper volume for receiving a plurality of the articles to be conveyed. The discharge is spaced from and downstream of the hopper. The magnet is movable between an attracting position proximate the hopper and a discharge position proximate the discharge.
